Attendance Letters
The first round of attendance letters have been sent out notifying parents with students who have missed 5 days or more days of school.
We believe that student attendance is critical to the success of your child’s overall social, emotional, and academic growth. This aligns directly with our school mission and our core values of commitment and collaboration. We believe in working together to ensure that your child is at school to the fullest extent and we will work with you to support your child having the opportunity to engage in a positive learning experience.
Pre-Planned Absences:
If your child is going to be gone for more than one day, then please complete the pre-planned absence form. This allows us to have advanced notice if you plan to take your child out of school for an extended time. This allows teachers to plan ahead for such things as assessments. You can assume your absence has been approved unless you receive the pre-planned form back. Pre-planned absences can be approved but may not be recommended. This might occur if a student already has multiple absences and/or if there are academic concerns. If you have questions or concerns regarding a pre-planned absence then please call the office. Below is the link to the pre-planned absence form for the district.
We also understand that appointments, illnesses, unexpected circumstances, and vacations may arise throughout the year. Under state law, you have the right to excuse your child for up to 10 days. After that 10 days, medical documentation is needed in order to excuse your child. We do recommend that it might be helpful to request a note from the doctor right away (even if you are not at the 10 day mark) so that you have that documentation right away. Again, even if you are not at the 10 days, you will then already have the necessary documentation.
Excused absences include the following: Illness, Funerals, Medical, Emergencies, Religious Holidays, Suspensions, and Family Trips. (Please be aware that vacations, although excused, due count toward the 10 day limit.)
We trust that families will do their best to ensure their child is in school to the fullest extent possible. It is our responsibility to communicate with you if we have concerns regarding your child’s attendance. In following state law, please remember that after 10 absences a medical excuse will be required to be an excused absence.
Please note that if a child does reach five absences, then a letter will be sent. In most circumstances, a five day letter is being sent as an FYI to you so that you are aware of your child’s current attendance status.
Please also remember that our school day starts at 8:40 AM. The first bell rings at 8:35 AM. We also believe that it is important for our students to arrive at the start of the school day. If a student is late to school then they are marked “tardy” in Infinite Campus. If a student acquires 10 tardies then a letter will be sent home to inform you that your child has been tardy for school repeatedly. We understand that appointments can run late or that there are very valid reasons a child might be late for school. Our responsibility is to communicate with you if we have concerns related to chronic lateness to school that may inhibit your child from making the most of the time at school.
Past Due Fees
Past due fee letters have also gone out. Students fees are due October 1st of each school year. Student fees are $60.00 per school year for students in K-5th and $25.00 for 4K students. Students in K-5th are also charged a yearly $25.00 technology fee for the use of an iPad. Please pay your fees as soon as possible
Unpaid fees follow students throughout their school career and can result in students being unable to participate in certain activities. Unpaid fees are turned over to collection.
Payment plans are available through the School District Business Office.

Safe Arrival Attendance System
Pre-Excused Absences: If you know your child is going to be absent and you want to report that before the student is marked absent in school, Safe Arrival provides three convenient methods:
1. Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store (or from the links at https://go.schoolmessenger.com). The first time you use the app, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
2. Use the SafeArrival website, https://go.schoolmessenger.com. The first time you use the website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.
3. Call the toll-free number 1-866-490-7371 to report an absence using the automated phone system. These options are available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week.
Future absences can be reported at any time.
Post-Excused Absences: If you were not able to report your child’s absence in advance you will be notified by the SchoolMessenger system if your child is marked absent.
You are notified of a reported absence within minutes of the reported absence.
The School Messenger app or the website will allow families to customize where they want to receive their notifications and allow them to excuse the absence right from the notification.
If you report your child’s absence in advance using the SafeArrival toll-free number, website or mobile app, you will NOT receive these notifications.

Rose Glen Online Directory
Did you know that Rose Glen has an online family directory? Have you signed up yet? You decide what you want included in the directory.
Having access to this directory is a great way for you to stay connected with other school families. It also is the way that you would get contact information for your child’s classmates, including information you would need for sending out birthday invitations via email or U.S. mail. (Please remember that unless your child is inviting the entire class, party invitations may not be distributed at school.)
Another important reason you may want to be included in the directory is to give your child the opportunity to be invited to birthday parties or other gatherings with classmates, since neither the teachers nor the office staff is able to share contact information with you. Hopefully you have already signed up for the family directory. If you have not, please take a few minutes to do so.
