Big picture

Donations of coffee K-Cups are gladly being accepted for our Staff Lounge! Thank you for any support you can give to help give our staff a great "pick-me-up", especially knowing this comes from our Eagle families!!

Middle of the Year Assessments are Here & Our Students are Ready to ROCK them!

During January, your child will be involved in middle of year assessments. The data we get from these assessments will help teachers determine next steps to students’ success! We will be looking for students’ strengths and growth opportunities as they engage in rigorous instruction based on the North Carolina Standards Course of Study! Students will “show what they know” in the following assessments this month:

NC Checkins Benchmarks for Grades 3-5 in Reading and Math, and Grade 5 in Science.

How can parents help?

  • Make sure your child gets a good night of sleep each day.
  • Make sure your child is on time for school, especially if you need them to eat breakfast at school!
  • Make sure your child’s laptop is fully charged each day they bring it to school.
  • Motivate your child to do their best and let him/her know how proud you are their “wins” and especially the effort they demonstrate by not giving up, rather working through the struggle for better understanding.
  • Encourage your child to work out math problems when you facilitate math homework, and practice reading at home each day - reading every day increases a child’s vocabulary and fluency!

Help Us Make Arrival to School as Safe as it Can Be!

CAR RIDERS: Please have your child prepared to get out of the car as soon as you pull up, having coat on and having backpack/lunchboxes ready. It delays the flow of traffic when we have to wait on children not prepared to get out of the car. This also results in other cars trying to go around vehicles and can be a safety concern as well. Thank you for helping us make the car rider line a smooth and quick flow so that all students are on time for school.

The doors to the school open at 7:40 am. We are still seeing students dropped off/walkers arriving on campus as early as 7:00 am. Staff arrives right before the doors open to students so these students are not supervised. For their safety, we ask parents to make sure their child is not arriving so early to school - should they get hurt or have a conflict with someone, there may not be someone to help. Additionally, students are exposed to winter weather, especially in the morning, that could be below freezing temperatures. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us with a safe arrival!
