Gratitude
As we move into the holiday season we want to take a moment of gratitude. There is so much to be thankful for, but here are a few Hopes & Dreams that you shared with us in our First 6 Weeks of School Family Survey that we are seeing these become reality..
- Inclusion between all class members
- Individualized learning taking place
- Feel comfortable around all peers whether in their friend group or not
- To grow and feel supported
- Grow as a kind and happy person
- Show academic progress and growth in a safe, encouraging atmosphere

- Solidifies new friendships
- Feels successful and supported
- Puts forth best effort and finds a rhythm of organization
- Teachers/staff notice effort and support students
- Feel better about progress in math

- Have fun while learning, build confidence, get outside their comfort zone
- Build lasting memories
- Find an adult that values and inspires them to be the best that they can be
- To be happy and not be pressured to 'fit in'

We will continue to check in and support our students to maintain a sense of safety and belonging. Two key indicators that support academic achievement at the middle school level. We truly are thankful to have parents and families that are so caring, supporting and involved.
Outdoor Activities
Students in our Middle School Outdoor Activities Class taught by Mrs. Roeder have been learning or even strengthening their skills on how to put on an outdoor tent. This has been an interesting hands-on learning process that takes in many components of our Portrait of a Graduate (Skills we want all students to have a deep understanding of by the time they graduate) Communication skills, Collaboration, Creative thinking, Critical Thinking, Character, and Citizenship. Hard to imagine, but all those traits come in handy when you have to put up a tent quickly - slowly or with a team! Great job students!
LIFT Programming
And just like that, another week has come and gone at LIFT! These last few days, we celebrated World Kindness Day, where we created and passed our encouraging crafts, we had a balloon race, made lavender pouches and kicked off the weekend with some homemade milkshakes!
Looking ahead and into next week, Tuesday the 21st, we will be hosting our first-ever Glen Lake LIFTSgiving! An annual event, LIFTSgiving is LIFT's version of Thanksgiving, when we as staff and volunteers prepare and serve a Thanksgiving meal to our students as a way to express our gratitude to them for their friendship, trust, and engagement.
This event is open to all Laker Middle Schoolers (even if their permission form is not in), so know that we are looking forward to that, and can't wait to share photos from the event in the weeks to come.
Have a great weekend, Lakers! We'll see you soon.
