Waste Water Treatment Tour
Students in the Green Living Community learn about the processes used in DeKalb to treat waste water.
Native Garden
Students in the Huskie Service Scholar program weed the native garden installed on campus by ENVS students.
Biodiesel Refining
NIU Faculty tour the biodiesel operation at Loyola University to learn more about how NIU can start a similar program.

The mission of The Institute for the Study of the Environment, Sustainability, and Energy (home of Environmental Studies) is to foster interdisciplinary research, education, and community engagement to promote understanding of the environment and the development of creative and effective solutions to environmental and sustainability issues. The ESE Institute integrates perspectives and methods from the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, technology, and engineering.
