Can you apply transformations to create congruent figures? WE CAN!
Principal G's Message
As we continue our journey this year, just a quick reminder that in middle school we begin again with our grades every quarter, which offers a new learning experience for all of our community members. We want to encourage everyone to continue their vigilance in practicing social distancing, mask wearing, and washing of hands, as we try to maintain the safest environment we can in the community. Our students and staff have been amazing, but we cannot control what is happening in the community at large. We really need to use our best judgement in order to maintain the in-person learning experience.
STUDENT-PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES ARE COMING!
We will be hosting our virtual Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 5, from 4:30-8:00 p.m. and Friday, November 6, from 8:00-4:00 p.m. Of course, in order to maintain social distancing requirements, these conferences will be on Teams and virtual with your student's teachers.
We have added students to the title this year because we will be asking all students to facilitate a student-led conference with you at home in preparation for our virtual conferences with teachers online. All students will prepare for their student-led conferences this upcoming week in their classes and Advisory class. They will be walking you through their learning progress and will assist you in signing up for conferences with teachers if needed. We believe that our students must be active participants in their own learning, and are fully capable of informing us and celebrating how they are doing and where they are going in learning!
Thank you for partnering with your child and us to make their learning experience the best it can be. We will be sending out a sign-up email on Monday if you would like to schedule sooner. Thanks in advance, and we look forward to talking to you.
Remote Learning - What If?
What will it look like if we are required to go to a full remote model this year? Great question. Our full remote virtual schedule will return to one full cohort of students, no Blue/Grey cohort split, and will be based on an alternating A/B day schedule with 2 Core, 1 Elective, Advisory, and a Lunch per day. Students will attend synchronous learning Monday through Friday from 9:00- 1:00 p.m., and be offered designated afternoon drop-in office hours for classes daily. In preparation, we have introduced our remote schedule in our Remote Learning Toolkit which has a recommended schedule for our current hybrid at-home learning days.
So, this transition should be pretty smooth for the students as it is familiar to them. Of course, there will be a learning curve as there is with any schedule change, and we will support them in what will be expected with grace and patience. Our hope is to maintain our in-person learning experience all year long, but we will be prepared just in case. Click and download our potential daily schedule and calendar below...hoping we don't have to use them.
DEANS' DEN
Nurse's Nook
It’s that time of the year again! We have been checking student immunization records. Colorado law requires that all students attending Colorado schools are vaccinated against certain diseases. Therefore, if the clinic staff has found that your child’s immunization record is not up to date, you will be receiving a letter and a phone call from the clinic. If your student has already received the vaccines, please provide the clinic with an updated immunization record ASAP. To learn more about Colorado required vaccines, go to: http://www.colorado.gov/pacific/dcphe/school-immunizations.
Communication between parents and the school nurse is extremely important. If there have been changes to your child’s health, please contact Nurse Doornik to inform her of these changes. Also, please remember to update PowerParent with any changes, including medications taken at home. You can reach the nurse at 720-886-6210 or email her at: ndoornik@cherrycreekschools.org.
Important components to staying healthy and being able to concentrate during the school day are staying hydrated and eating breakfast and lunch. Students are allowed to carry reusable or disposable water bottles with them throughout the day. At this time, there are no refill stations, so please remind your student to bring enough water to stay hydrated all day. Eating balanced meals throughout the day will help maintain your child’s energy and help them learn. Adequate hydration and balanced nutrition can also help avoid headaches and stomach aches caused by hunger and dehydration.
Stay healthy and be well!
