What is it?
Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior as part of an individual's consistent efforts to maintain power and control over his or her intimate partner. It includes physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, and emotional abuse.
Statistics
Every 9 seconds in the US, a woman is assaulted or beaten
The Victim
57% of homeless families are in the state they are because they left their homes due to domestic violence issues.
Statistics
On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men.

NCADV is the voice of victims and survivors. They are the catalyst for changing society to have zero tolerance for domestic violence. They do this by effecting public policy, increasing understanding of the impact of domestic violence, and providing programs and education that drive that change.
The vision of NCADV is to create a culture where domestic violence is not tolerated; and where society empowers victims and survivors, and holds abusers accountable
