ART CLASS DOES IT AGAIN!
6th period Drawing 1 art class finished the group final started by periods 1, 2 and 4. The chalk drawing used the ideas of a type of perspective called anamorphic projection. It creates a distorted drawing that requires the viewer to be at a specific viewing spot to see it correctly. They had a lot of fun collaborating even though it was already warm by the morning!
FRESHMAN ORIENTATION
ATTENTION 9TH GRADERS!
Butte College will be hosting the Summer Connection from June 13th – 30th this year!
Summer connection is a program that has been in place at Butte College for nearly 30 years and is designed to give students from Butte and Glenn Counties currently in grades 7-9 exposure to learning and fun in a college setting. The students are enrolled in various courses (KIN 51, Science, Drafting, Multicultural studies and more) and will participate in activities to help them believe they could attend higher education.
Students will receive .5 unit for KIN 51. The program fee is $36 per student. The schedule is Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.; transportation to the Main Campus, a breakfast snack and lunch are provided each at no additional cost.
BOYS BASKETBALL CAMP!
The Chico High Boys Basketball program will host its annual basketball camp for boys in incoming grades 5-9 on Monday, June 13 - Thursday, June 16 from 8:30am - noon. The camp features the Chico High coaching staff and members of the boys' basketball program. Campers will be taught fundamentals and given the opportunity to play competitive games. Each camper will also receive a camp T-shirt. The gym will be open daily at 8:00 a.m. Cost is $80 dollars, payable to Chico High Boys Basketball. Open registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Monday, June 13 in the Chico High gym. The camp registration form may be downloaded here. For more information email Abe Simmons at asimmons@chicousd.org.
CONGRATS TO GRIFFIN TEAGUE!
Griffin Teague (2016) was the only Chico High track athlete to win an event at the Section Track Meet at West Valley High School on May 27. His time of 39.19 seconds in the 300 hurdles moved him to number 5 on the Chico High Top Ten, a list of all the fastest times ever run for CHS.
His victory at Sections earned him the right to represent Chico High at the State Track Championships held June 3rd and 4th in Clovis, CA., where he entered the meet ranked 21st in the state. After his rac,e his time boosted him to 18th in the state. That wasn't quite enough to make it to the finals, but he represented his school and his sport with integrity and honest effort.
Robert Quist, Chico High's Boys Hurdles Coach, accompanied Griffin to the State meet and said, "I couldn't be more proud of Griffin. He came to hurdling late in his high school track career but more than made up for his lack of experience with dedication. To move into an event like this that requires such varied athletic skills, and then to succeed so brilliantly, is a testament to Griffin's athletic prowess and hard work."
Griffin plans to continue to compete over the summer in track meets around California with the goal of becoming a member of the Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo track team next year.

Re: New immunization requirements for 2016
Under a new law known as SB 277, beginning January 1, 2016 exemptions based on personal beliefs will no longer be an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into child care or school in California. Most families will not be affected by the new law because their children have received all required vaccinations. Personal beliefs exemptions on file for a child already attending child care or school will remain valid until the child reaches the next immunization checkpoint at kindergarten (including transitional kindergarten) or 7th grade.
For more information about school immunization requirements and resources, please visit the California Department of Public Health’s website at www.shotsforschool.org, or contact your local health department.
