2017-2018 Yearbooks Should Arrive Around May 15

Online yearbook sales have ended, but we will have extra yearbooks available for $40 each on a first-come first-served basis once the yearbooks arrive. We anticipate that they will arrive around May 15. We will be sure to announce when extra yearbooks are available for purchase.

Due to high demand, yearbooks cannot be placed on hold.

Gina Brown Named WCHE's April Volunteer of the Month

Throughout the school year, West Cypress staff members nominate volunteers for Volunteer of the Month. This month, however, we had something new and different happen!

For the first time ever, students nominated someone as Volunteer of the Month!

The WCHE Student Council and WCHE staff members nominated Gina Brown as Volunteer of the Month, and we are so proud to announce that she has been duly elected to be our April Volunteer of the Month.

Gina serves as a homeroom parent, and supports the entire first grade teaching team with coffee, homemade baked goodies, and by assisting with preparation of classroom materials. She keeps other parents well informed about upcoming events and coordinates parental support for our first graders.

Our Student Council LOVES their Ms. Brown, especially so, because she assists weekly with our fabulous Tiger Trading Post. Thanks to her hours of work and ongoing efforts, our Tiger Trading Post is a huge (and well organized) success.

Thank you, Gina Brown, for making WCHE a great place to be. Congratulations on being named April Volunteer of the Month by the staff AND STUDENTS of WCHE.

Mrs. Tara Ali Named WCHE 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year

There may be no greater honor than being recognized by your peers.

We are very pleased to announce that the staff of West Cypress Hills Elementary elected Mrs. Tara Ali as our campus' Teacher of the Year for 2017-2018.

Mrs. Ali currently serves as a 1st grade teacher here at WCH. Although this is her 9th year of teaching, it's her 1st year of teaching at West Cypress (not to mention the years that she so very kindly served as one of our outstanding substitute teachers!)

She lives in our neighborhood with her husband, Karim, and their three children, Emma, Tyler, and Mason. She LOVES teaching and strives to build strong relationships in the community as well as in her classroom. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Congratulations, Mrs. Ali! And, many thanks for all that you do to make West Cypress a great place to be.

West Cypress Hills Names Its Mentor and Volunteer of the Year

West Cypress is very fortunate to have wonderful mentors and volunteers who generously donate their time to support our students and staff members. We'd like to call attention to two special people who have been elected by WCHE staff as our Mentor of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

Doris Ernst has been serving as one of our mentors since the school opened, and we are very appreciative of her time and efforts. She holds a special place in the hearts of the Tigers that she's supported. We named Doris Ernst our WCHE Mentor of the Year.

Kelly Kodis volunteers to help WCHE staff members, almost, every day. She helps with special projects, she prepares teaching materials for our teachers, and she offers to and is willing to tackle almost any task. We named Kelly Kodis our WCHE Volunteer of the Year.

Thank you ladies for all that you do for our students and staff!

The Lost & Found is Overflowing!

Have you noticed that you have a lot more closet space than you used to have at your house? If so, maybe it's because we have all of your coats and sweaters and hoodies in our Lost & Found.

With the frequent weather changes we've experienced lately, the Lost & Found has exploded with many very nice coats, sweaters, eyeglasses, lunch boxes, and water bottles. Please be sure to check our Lost & Found for your child(ren)'s belongings before April 20. Unclaimed items will be donated to charity if not claimed by April 20. Thanks!

Kardivas Are Having A Party!

The Kardivas district-wide end of year party will be loads of fun for all. The party will be at the Lake Travis High School Cafeteria. To get there, take the Spillman Loop entrance into the high school campus. Follow it past the gym, tennis courts, and LTISD Administrative Offices. If you would like to walk your daughter in to the cafeteria, park in the back lot to the right (P8,) or, for drop off, just drop her off by the banner. The Kardivas will be entering the cafeteria from the outside door along the chain-link fence. DO NOT DROP OFF AT THE FRONT DOOR OF THE HIGH SCHOOL. Just look for the Kardivas banner and balloons! Have fun!
