Dual Language Program
Dual Language has been a part of Moxee Elementary since 2003. It is a way for early minds to learn two languages, English and Spanish. When they first started it was a K-1st program and then later on it turned K-5th. In 2017, the program expanded to East Valley Central and is now a K-8th program. In order to get into Dual Language you need to have your parents sign up in kindergarten. If you are not eligible to get in kindergarten year, a test for your child must be taken next year. The program is set up to be half English half Spanish. As the students learn Spanish literature and English mathematics and science during kindergarten through second grade, they will then switch to learning Spanish mathematics and science, with English literature from third grade up to fifth. East Valley Central just added a Spanish Language Arts last year open to the Dual Language students. This class can be taken your seventh and eighth grade year, helping with high school credits. Their sixth grade year will consist of 2 math periods and a science period in Spanish. Seventh and eighth grade year they will then change from science to social studies. This year we will be celebrating a successful 16 years of this amazing program!
