Bulldog Bites
Your source for all things SGF
Dear SGF Families,
Well, winter certainly has made itself known here in the Northeastern U.S.! We hope that everyone is staying warm in this arctic chill.
We have several updates this week for our Bulldog Community.
22-A-Day Pushup Challenge
Our 22-A-Day Pushup Challenge was highlighted by WTEN earlier this week!
The program began on Wednesday and runs throughout the month at South High. Our students and staff signed up to do 22 pushups a day to help raise awareness of veteran mental health.
Vocal Point competition
Good Luck to our Vocal Point acapella team as they take part in the ICHSA Quarterfinals in Troy, NY, on Saturday. Know your SGF community is cheering for you.
Amazing Volunteers
Thank you to our incredible Harrison Avenue student council members. These students were very busy earlier this week, assembling our new Trex recycling bins, weighing the recycled pop tabs that have been donated so far, and putting together small gifts of hand lotion to spread joy around the building.
Thank you all for volunteering your time!
Everybody Reads
Our 2023 Everybody’s Reads program has concluded. We would like to thank everyone who was involved in making this a great year!
College and Career Exploration
WSWHE BOCES is hosting #womenintrades days on Feb. 10. Speak with a school counselor to sign up and learn more about opportunities for women in the trades.
Kindness Closet Delivery Update
The SGF Kindness Closet is open on Saturday, Jan. 21. The delivery service will also be available. Still, going forward, we will require that all Google forms for delivery be entered by the Wednesday before the closet is open. Please have your forms entered this month by Wednesday, Feb. 8.
This move will allow our team more time to prepare our orders.
Bulldog Sports Update
The Adirondack United girls' varsity hockey team has come out on top in their league. The team will be moving onto sectionals in a couple of weeks.
The Adirondack Rivermen boys' hockey team won 2-0 against Bethlehem.
Good luck to Troy Keiser at the Section II Class B classification wrestling tournaments on Saturday in Burnt Hills.
Our 12-0 Varsity Girls' Basketball team will go for first place in the Foothills Council North Division against Queensbury at 7 p.m. on Monday at Queensbury High School. Best of luck, Bulldogs!
A fantastic performance by SGF’s Mike Winter at Thursday’s Foothills Council bowling tournament. Winter had the highest single in the tournament, with a 279. The Bulldogs came in fourth in the council!
Our Boys' Varsity Basketball team came from behind for a 52-45 over Broadalbin this week. Congratulations on the great game!
