Mrs. Yeagle's Third Grade Class

Hello Parents!

WOW! First of all, let me start by saying I am so excited to work with you and your child this year. We truly have an amazing group of cooperative students in Room 10! Your children are getting into the 3rd Grade routine and procedures so quickly. They really are top notch kids. Now that we've gotten a bit settled, I would like to go over some information.

Procedures and Expectations:

Each day, your child will bring home a “Daily Homework Folder.” This folder will have a pocket for “Notes” and a pocket for “Homework.” In order to keep you and your child organized, please check this folder daily. Please keep any informative notes and letters and return completed homework and/or requested signatures.

Third Graders are expected to read 20-30 minutes at home on a daily basis. A monthly Reading Log will soon be used to record nightly reading. Students may also receive Math or Spelling homework throughout the week.

Every Friday, a large envelope will come home with work from the previous week/weeks. Please empty the folder and take a few moments to go over your child’s work. Encourage them to talk about their work with you and praise them for their efforts.nnThen, sign on the page provided and return the folder to school on Monday.

Assignment Notebooks have been coming home this week. The cost for the N.B. is $5.50. If you have not paid for the Assignment N.B., please turn your money in by Wednesday, September 9. Your child should complete any homework that is assigned in the Assignment Notebook. It is their responsibility to check that they have all the materials they need to complete the homework before they leave school. The assignment notebook is to be signed by an adult Monday – Thursday night.

Please have your child wear gym shoes on P.E. days so that they can participate appropriately. Our specials schedule is...

Monday: Music & P.E.

Tuesday: Music

Wednesday: Music & P.E.

Thursday: Music & P.E.

Friday: ART

*** LRC check out will be flexible. Students will get books as needed or when requested by a teacher. Most likely students will check out books on Tuesday and Friday.

Each student was given an AR Goal today as an incentive to read books that they enjoy at their reading level.

Rounding Rap

Last week, we spent a lot of time getting to know one another and learning the procedures of Third Grade. This week, students were assessed in the areas of Read, Math, and Writing. These assessments will help me form instruction to meet the specific needs of the class.

We brainstormed ideas on good reading and writing habits to launch our Reading and Writing Workshops. In Math, we are working on place value and rounding. I have included a link to a video that helps with the process of rounding. I like to use videos and songs to launch new topics and get kids excited about learning new things.
