Every year Arleta's school library loses books. Books that get lost, eaten by the dog, shoved under a car seat. We are hoping to recover as many books as possible before the end of the school year. We know that life happens and that dryers do eat library books. If you are unsure of what books your students have out, send an email to Ms. Street Ms. Street can also talk to you about any library fines you have and options you have for taking care of them. The library is an integral part of our community and we want to make sure our collection is available for everyone. Questions regarding library programming, book check out, fines, OBOB and all things library should be directed to Ms. Street

Principal's Message - Here comes the Sun!

Dear Arleta Families - With the spring comes the sun and some important reminders about school and warm weather.

Footwear - When the sun comes out we often think it is time for flip flops. At school we encourage students to wear shoes that they can play and run in. Especially if it is PE day, you can't go wrong with tennis shoes.

Sunscreen - Sadly we cannot put sunscreen on your student for you. But this is a great opportunity to teach your student to put on their own sunscreen. Make sure to cover up in the am and then put a small container in their lunch box with a note reminding them to reapply at lunch. Encourage students that when they get overheated to notify an adult and/or sit and play in the shade for a bit.

Water Bottles - Consider buying an "at school" water bottle for your students. Show them how to fill up at one of the water coolers and check in with their teacher regarding the expectations around water bottles in the classroom. Remind students to hydrate through the day.

Light Sweatshirt /Layers- It can be cool in the morning and then heat up in the afternoon. Remind your student to dress in layers to manage the different temperatures in the building.

Fan Fund - The building is already heating up, so we will be buying some fans to make sure every classroom has at least one. If you have a gently used fan you would like to donate to the school please drop it off with your teacher or in the office.

Hello Spring! With Gratitude, Diana

Are your ready for the Cascadia Event? - Emergency Preparedness

Join the Arleta community as we prepare for what scientists are predicting will be the most impactful earthquake that we will experience in our lifetime. The saying goes, "not if, but when the earthquake strikes".

Start by taking this Emergency Preparedness Survey

For the 2019-20 school year we are planning informational events, drills, organizational meetings and whatever it takes to prepare Arleta to manage this event.

Join the PTA Board!

One of the best ways to show your kids that school is important is to be a part of it!

If you have ideas to improve our school, join the board!

Take a leadership role within the PTA and help support Arleta in being a great place for all our kids.

>>These positions are required for us to be a PTA<<

President and Vice President, or two Co-Presidents: Two people are needed to lead a dedicated group of volunteers and work with administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and community members to help support Arleta. The president(s) helps our PTA achieve the membership’s chosen goals and ensures we stay in compliance with state and national PTA guidelines. Some specific duties include planning and facilitating meetings, being a co-signer on our bank account, and helping out at events. This position can be done by a president and vice-president or two co-presidents.

The following positions help the PTA meet its goals and build a community of Arleta supporters.

Fundraising Chair(s): Work with school administration, PTA board, and membership to create and achieve fundraising goals to support all the great things the PTA does for Arleta! This position could be shared between two co-chairs and you will have a committee of volunteers to help.

Teacher Appreciation Chair(s): Lead a committee to show our teachers and staff how much we value their work! Coordinate dinner for November parent teacher conferences, Teacher Appreciation week in May, and other dates as you choose in between. You will have a team of volunteers to help and a small budget for purchases. Meetings are not required, and this position can be shared between co-chairs.

Or create your own position! Do you have any special skills or passion that you would like to bring to the PTA to help support our school! We would love to hear more!

As you consider which role is right for you, keep in mind that past members are remaining on the board and can get you acquainted with the PTA. Please contact us with questions and nominations –
