Old Town Star Staff News

March 28th through April 8th

Our ROCK STAR of the WEEK is...

Name: Sherrie Robinson

Current Gig: Kindergarten Teacher

Personal Life: I have been married to my wonderful husband, Mike, for 37+ years. We have three grown children and three grandchildren. Jared 36, is our oldest son. He is profoundly challenged and lives in a group home in Austin. Our daughter Jamie 34, is married to Chris and they blessed us with a terrific 2 1/2 year old grandson Harrison. We see them often, since they live in Austin. Our youngest son JD 31 and his wife Liz live in Orlando, Florida. They gave us two fantastic granddaughters, Charlotte 7 and Juliet 3 years old. We see them once or twice a year and often as we can on face time or Skype.

I have been teaching for 22 years. I taught third grade two years at a private Christian school in Moreno Valley, Ca. I began at OTE as a paraprofessional in the ALT (alternative learning class. ) I was there for three years, then taught KAP (Kinder Assistant program) for nine years before going back into the classroom. I have taught kindergarten for the last eight years. This will be my twentieth year at Old Town Elementary. I love close family feel at OTE and the caring staff.

One word to describe yourself and why: Dedicated - I love developing lasting relationships with my students, parents and teammates. I will work to make sure I am meeting the needs of each student to help them strive to reach goals and always have a love for learning.

Most interesting job: In Eielson AFB, Alaska, I served as the OWC (Officer's Wives Club) treasurer when my husband was stationed there in the Air Force.
Favorite hobbies away from school: I love reading, sewing, embroidering, and gardening. I also love shopping and finding great bargains.

Favorite song: The Old Rugged Cross (I love the old hymns). Secular Music - Two out of Three Ain't Bad by Meatloaf

If I wasn't at Old Town, I'd..: be spending lots of time with my grandkids!!!!!!!!!!!!!
