Hello everybody and "Happy Monday"! We are already in the second week of March and have exciting news to share.

This Saturday, teams from each Asheville City School will be participating in Mountain Madness, a district wide basketball tournament hosted in Asheville High's Varsity Gym. Games will be played all day long and you can find the bracket information here. The event is free and open to all, with an exciting half-time show, prizes, and free food! Make sure you attend what is sure to be an EXCITING event for the district!

We also have some great sessions lined up for the week that will be covering topics ranging from stress management to the IEP process. We can't wait to see you there!

Community Resiliency Model Training (Hillcrest Resource Center)

Tuesday, March 10th, 10:30am-12:30pm

Feeling stressed, irritable, or overwhelmed? The Community Resiliency Model (CRM) trains community members to not only help themselves but to help others within their wider social network. Participants will learn 6 easy skills that can be used to reset, find balance, and take care of THEMSELVES so that they can be more resilient.

Come to this session to get a better understanding of the issues surrounding public education and how you can advocate at the state and local levels to improve education for all!

Parents as Partners in the IEP Process (Asheville City Preschool)

Thursday, March 12th, 6-7:15pm

441 Haywood Rd

Asheville, NC

Every child with a disability who receives special education services must have an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Learn step-by-step how the IEP is developed, including how to articulate a vision, using evaluations to write measurable goals, and measuring your child's progress.
