GRE Family Gazette
March 11, 2019
Dear GRE Families,
We made it through our first full week in quite a while and boy did we have an awesome week! Our 2nd and 4th graders rocked their Terra Nova/InView tests and students had a blast during Skate Time in Physical Education. It's pretty incredible to see the progress students are able to make from their first time skating to their second. Our week wrapped up with Eagles Nests and learning about how we can be good citizens. Ask your child about what we want "Otters" to do!
This week we will have Spring Picture Day on Monday. This includes individual portraits and class portraits. There was a typo on the paper order form so be sure you are prepared for photos tomorrow, March 11th. Box Tops are due on Tuesday and Pastries with Parents is this Thursday or Friday depending on your last name (see detailed information below). Also Thursday is our monthly PTO meeting beginning at 6:30.
Here's to a great week full of fun, friends and learning!

We are also looking for volunteers to help this event run smoothly. FBI/BCI Big Walnut approved volunteers can help to set-up and clean-up on each day. Each volunteer will need to sign-in at the office and keep their volunteer badge visible during their volunteer time. If you are just visiting with your child, you do not have to wear your badge.
Please sign up here if you are willing to assist us!2. Big Walnut Local Schools will be hosting a screening of the documentary, Screenagers. This event will be held at BWMS on April 11th starting at 6:30 pm. This event is free and all are welcome! Screenagers is a documentary that focuses on the habits that children develop by using their mobile devices. Throughout the film, families are seen dealing with the consequences (often serious) related to excessive screen time or screen time without boundaries. The film focuses on the connection between mental health and how much tech time can impact a child’s development. This documentary also highlights the benefits of finding the balance of screen time and screen- free time and offers some solutions for parents. For a sneak peak of this film, click here.
