3rd Grade Art Camp
After-School Art Camp is going to be a 2-day experience for students who would like to learn the science of pour painting. This club will meet December 18th and 19th. We would meet both days after school. This program would last from 2:50-3:40 in the Art Room. Pickup for students is 3:45 from the front office of Christie Elementary. Students will need to fill out an interest form on their google classrooms. Once the interest form has been submitted, I will pass out physical permission forms for families to complete. This year, we have enough supplies for 14 students to participate. You can find the interest form at this link : https://forms.gle/iBZz2VZ8eRApirkt9

Hour of Code
Dear Parents,
We live in a world surrounded by technology. And we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works.
But only a fraction of us are learning how technology works. Only 51% of all high schools offer computer science.
That’s why our entire school is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (December 3-8). More than 100 million students worldwide have already tried an Hour of Code. Our Hour of Code is making a statement that Christie is ready to teach these foundational 21st-century skills. Our Hour of Code will be the last hour of the day on December 8, 2023, and Kinder will be before Specials. Please add this date to your calendar and more details are to come.
See http://hourofcode.com/us/en for details, and help spread the word.

Long Range Facility Planning
On May 2, 2023, the Plano ISD Board of Trustees approved the new Strategic Roadmap that is inclusive of a long range plan.
As such, the plan includes a strategy to study:
- Current facilities,
- Enrollment, and
- Programs to determine efficiencies,
- Long range planning and
- Programmatic equity.
This study will:
- Assess all of our schools,
- Analyze the student enrollment at each school,
- Evaluate high-quality programming,
- Consider whether the building is being used effectively and
- Determine whether resources are fairly distributed to support all students.
The result of the study may lead to restructuring, or "rightsizing," school sites to better serve students.
Rightsizing may involve:
- Closing school buildings,
- Adjusting attendance boundaries within the feeder pattern to allow for a more equitable disbursement of district resources.
Ultimately, the study of school building capacity will be for the purpose of supporting thriving schools, classrooms, students, teachers, and school leaders.
