8th Grade Banquet Info
We are excited to be able to host an 8th-grade banquet this year! All GCMS 8th grade students (in-person and virtual) who meet the requirements are invited. You will find pertinent information regarding the banquet below.
Date: Friday, May 7 Time: 6:00-9:00 Place: GCMS Cafeteria
Cost is $8 per person (pictures by Lifetouch will be available for an additional cost)
Safety Measures:
Temperatures will be taken upon arrival.
Students will have assigned seats. They will be able to sign up for their seat.
Masks will need to be worn. They may be removed for pictures.
Restrooms and hand sanitizing stations will be available.
Food will be served rather than using a buffet line.
Dress code is semi-formal, therefore no jeans, sweatpants, etc please.
Banquet attendance requirements:
Attendance - 0 unexcused absences March 22 - May 7
Behavior - 0 discipline referrals which result in an out of school suspension March 22 - May 7
Grades - As of April 30, you must be passing for the year which means you can’t be failing 2 or more classes.
GC@Home students must have scheduled an appointment and completed their KPrep testing during the week of April 26 - April 30.
Slide show - Get pictures to Ms. Tillett by April 12! You can bring actual pictures in, email them, attach them to google classroom, etc. Ms. Tillett’s email address is:
anna.tillett@gallatin.kyschools.us
She would like a picture when you were young, a current picture, and a few group pictures if you have them (groups of students in your grade).
Pictures - A photographer from Lifetouch will be available that night to take pictures if you choose. Purchasing information will be sent home closer to the date and will be available at the banquet.
Parents - Due to safety measures you may take pictures at home, at a local park, outside the school, etc, but parents will not be permitted in the building on banquet night.
Thank you to everyone for your patience and support as we plan this opportunity for our students!
8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony
It is important to note, not all students who participate in the ceremony are guaranteed to be promoted to the 9th grade. Many students are still recovering credits and will continue to do so during our summer session. We would like for all students to have the opportunity to participate, but please know that participation does not guarantee promotion.
Be looking for more information regarding tickets very soon!
