Beach Buddies' Bulletin
September 11-15, 2017
Hello K Families!
We had another fast-paced, learning-filled week in kindergarten. Apples, bus safety, and our names helped us practice important kindergarten skills. Just a quick update as I am getting ready to race! I know the kindergartners are having great days with Mrs. Howard. They were ready to show her all they already know about being a learner. (and that's a lot!) They impress me every day.
Explore Kindergarten - this Tuesday!
Remember, this coming Tuesday, September 19, is Explore Kindergarten Night. Please make it a priority to attend! I love to see the kindergartners on this night-- they proudly become teachers while guiding you through kindergarten activities....such a change from the last time you visited at open house. Come when you can- anytime between 5:00-6:30 on Tuesday.
Readers' Workshop
In readers' workshop we worked more on building our stamina to read independently. We also noticed that readers THINK while reading. We wrote and drew about our thinking when reading our FOREVER books.
Writers' Workshop
In writers' workshop we have been working on stretching words like a "slinky" to write as many sounds as we can hear. We are writing books about "things important to us".
Math Workshop
In math workshop we have used apples to make patterns, sort, count, and measure. Thank you for the help supplying our apples!
Choice Centers
A favorite time of the day continues to be our "choice center" time where the kindergartners can choose their own center to explore. This week we opened up the Science Center and the Sensory Table.
Razzle Dazzle
I hope you all have been keeping track of your reading at home this week on your Razzle Dazzle sheet. Remember, these come back to school each Monday. A new sheet will come home with your child on Monday.
Bus Safety
Wednesday we enjoyed a puppet show from M&M about being safe in and around the school bus. Ask your kindergartner about rules for the bus.
Technology to Share...
Blog update
Look for a blog update to be coming mid- week in conjunction with Explore Kindergarten Night.
Seesaw
Next week, the kindergartners will be adding their first post to Seesaw. We can't wait to start this awesome way to share our learning. Please let me know if you are not receiving my texting updates. Need to turn on more notifications (i.e texting) to be sure you don't miss anything? This video can help you. Adding Seesaw Notifications Be in touch if you need more help!
iPad Apps
Drawing Pad
Drawing Pad is one of the best creative drawing apps I have found. We'll use it frequently in kindergarten to share our thinking.
