Earth Day 2018
Earth Day is Coming to Greene!
Greene students will celebrate Earth Day this Tuesday with a visit from three avian ambassadors from Raptor Inc., a local organization dedicated to the preservation of birds of prey (raptorinc.org). Student council created a survey for the school to vote for the birds they would most like to see, with the top vote-getter receiving a sponsorship. Winners should be announced today!
Students will also be able to make birdfeeder necklaces, and, if they signed up, receive Redbud or Red Oak seedlings to take home and plant. Birdfeeders can be hung up in trees or with existing birdfeeders—anywhere birds like to congregate. Seedlings should be planted as soon as possible, and stored in a cool dark place until then; they can also be planted in pots and transplanted later (instructions will be attached). To request a seedling (or additional seedlings) talk to your student or contact Sarah Newman at snewman1@cinci.rr.com.
The Eco Team would like to thank Student Council for their outstanding work putting this program together, and the PTO for their whole-hearted support!
