This year, all sophomore students will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 19, 2016. In order to help students prepare for this exam, Jasper High School is offering a PSAT Preparation Class beginning Monday, September 26 and ending Friday, October 14, either before or after school. This class is open to all 9th and 10th graders, although only 10th graders will take the exam.

Registration for sophomores will be held during block lunch on Tuesday, September 13 and Wednesday, September 14. Registration for freshmen (and sophomores) will be held during block lunch on Wednesday, September 14. . If there are any students not able to register at lunch, Lisa Bauer in the front office will also accept registrations on Thursday, September 15 and September 16 from 9:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. and the following week September 19 -23.

Classes will begin Monday September 26 and will be held from 8:00 - 8:45 each morning and from 4:30 - 5:15 each afternoon. There will be a total of 14 instructional sessions - 7 Math and 7 Verbal. Classes will alternate between Math and Verbal during each week. Students have to register for either morning or afternoon classes.

The fee of $65 includes the PSAT Prep Workbook and instructional classes offered each morning or afternoon. The PSAT Workbook will serve as the students’ hall pass and entry to class.

Payment Procedure: Students should bring a check made out to Jasper High School PSAT in the amount of $65 (with student’s legal name, ID # and phone # on the check) or cash. The registration form must be filled out completely and accompany the check or cash. Each student will be issued a receipt and a PSAT workbook. Late registrations will not be accepted.

Please note, the PSAT prep classes are optional and students will NOT be excused from other school-related activities (i.e., marching band, athletic practice, etc.) to attend the PSAT classes. Classes are being offered in the mornings and afternoons to accommodate extracurricular activities. In order to maintain the appropriate atmosphere, once students leave the class, they will not be allowed to return.

Retake and make up picture day September 23

Any student that missed pictures earlier this fall or needs to take a retake can do so on September 23rd. They can either stop by room 1130, Jasper's club room before school or they will be allowed to go down during English class. If students had any issue with their student ID, this would be the time to take care of this as well. Bring your id and ask them to correct the issue.

Theater Performance: Find your Voice

The theater department will be presenting their first play Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1. Both performances will start at 7 pm. Come and see a variety of acts and performance that showcase the talent here at Jasper! Tickets are $5.

Schedule Change Requests

Before a change may be considered, students must have time to understand the course’s related concepts and skills, and teachers must have an opportunity to help students grow into the course expectations.

PWSH Band Prowl:

The Plano West Senior High Marching Band will be conducting its 2016 Wolfpack Prowl fundraiser parade in the neighborhoods around Plano West on Saturday, October 1st from 9:30am to 1:30pm.

The “Prowl” is the largest fundraiser for the Plano West Band with proceeds being used to support the band and its activities throughout the 2016-17 school year. The Prowl is a 3.5 mile parade and the band will stop by individual homes to play song requests for a set donation. The event ends with a 30 minute mini-concert so neighbors, parents and friends from the area can join the festivities. Each band member solicits corporate and/or individual sponsors for the Prowl and everyone has a great time at this spirited event.

This year we will be marching in the neighborhoods of White Rock Creek Estates, Castlemere, Windhaven Farms, Huntingdon Green and the mini concert will be held in the south parking lot of Brinker Elementary around 1:00pm.

If you want more information or would like to be a donor/sponsor for the Prowl, please contact your band friends. Details are also on the band web site at: http://planowestband.org/wolf-prowl-parade

We hope to see you on October 1st.

Thank you for your support and Go Wolves!
