FROM THE PRINCIPAL...TONY WHITE

Math anxiety is real, but so is fun with math. When we were kids, math was often taught to us as this thing to memorize, and when we asked how things worked, we were told they just did. When you know better, you do better, and today, we teach math in a much deeper way. This deeper way can often seem like learning a new language for us as adults, but for our Eagles, it helps them see the "man behind the curtain" and that math isn't magic - it's logic.

Come see what I mean when we have our second annual Family Math Night in our community room next Thursday, March 5 from 6:00 to 7:35. We'll have teachers on hand running some fun, brain-building math activities that everyone of all ages can enjoy! Come on down and see what great things are happening in our math classrooms!

Have a wonderful, long weekend, Norton Creek! See you in March!

NURSE'S CLOTHING CLOSET

Did you know that our Norton Creek nurses keep clothing on hand for students in case of spills and other accidents? Their clothing supply is now running low since some items have worn out or have been borrowed and not returned. Please help restock the closet by donating one or two items of clothing! Items needed: gently-used shirts, shorts, and pants (especially leggings and sweatpants) in all sizes 4-14 for both boys and girls. (This is a great way to get rid of old Norton Creek spirit wear shirts!) Also needed: BRAND NEW ONLY socks and underwear in all sizes 4-14 for both boys and girls.

Middle School Transfer Requests

Families who wish to submit Middle School Transfer requests may do so beginning February 3. The request form will be available on the District 303 website through February 28. Families must complete a separate form for each student they want transferred. Requests are granted based on space available so siblings are not guaranteed placement. A written decision will be communicated to families before spring break.

Once the request is approved, a student may remain at that middle school throughout his or her middle school career, as long as the student resides in District 303.

Families of students granted permission to attend a school outside of their assigned attendance are responsible for their own transportation.

Students will return to their assigned attendance area high school regardless of the middle school attended.

With that in mind, please make sure your child is dressed to go outside on days when it is cold, snowy or windy. Students should bring outerwear to school in a bag to put on before recess. Please make sure they have hats, gloves, scarves, snow pants and boots if they want to play in the snow. Don’t forget to label your child’s outerwear so it does not end up in the Lost and Found.
