Parke Lane Press
August 26, 2020
Our teachers, administrative assistants, food service, and custodial staff are very excited to meet your young ones in less than 2 weeks! As the building preparations are in full motion, I am delighted to share with you some much anticipated updates.
Our families can expect to have class lists and updated arrival/dismissal procedures released on Friday afternoon. To help aid in larger classrooms for social distancing, Mr. Swick's and Mrs. Bigham's classes will be at Meridian Elementary this year. In addition, if you have a Kindergarten/Young 5 student, look for a separate email from me by tomorrow morning that will explain a change in schedule for the first two days of school for Kindergarten/Young 5s that will add a special first impression for our newest students.
Information you will find below:
- Updated and NEW Start and End Times (Daily Schedule, Early Release Schedule, Delayed Start Schedule)
- District Calendar (Reminder that the first day is a half day!)
- We need your help! Posted positions for lunch monitors and AM/PM Crossing Guards
- Details on Student Open House and Parent Virtual Meet the Teacher
We look forward to partnering with you and your family this upcoming school year!
Take care and talk soon,
Joe Reimann
Principal, Parke Lane Elementary
Help Our Students! Help Our School!
Both Elementary Schools are looking for crossing guards to help keep our kids safe 30 minutes before and after school. Training is through the GIPD and the pay rate is $15/day. If you are interested, please email reimanj@gischools.org.
Student Open House and Family Meet the Teacher Details!
Important Note: Mr. Swick and Mrs. Bigham's Student Open House will take place on Tuesday, September 1 with sessions between 5:00-5:50.
Student Open House, Wednesday, September 2
Classrooms will be split into two 20 minute sessions so that our students will get a chance to meet the teacher, see their classroom, and get excited for their first day of school! To help model our safety protocols, students will get a touchless temperature check at their classroom from their teacher. We encourage families to talk to their child about temperature checks and mandatory masks prior to the Student Open House.
Teachers will communicate your exact time for your Open House slot after class lists have been finalized. Families will meet and pick up their child from the classroom teacher at the assigned arrival/dismissal door. Arrival and dismissal doors will be communicated this Friday. Due to our safety protocols, only students may enter the building during Student Open House. Thank you for your support in keeping our building healthy!
4:45-5:40 - Kindergarten/Young 5s Window

Virtual Family Meet the Teacher, Thursday, September 3
To help our families get to know their child's teacher and learn about the classroom, teachers will be sending out information virtually on September 3rd. This will help our families learn more about the procedures of the classroom, expectations, open up lines of communication, and more!
