Parent News - Desplazarse hacia abajo para Español
As we get closer to the holidays and winter break, we are working really hard to get all of our students successful in the second quarter of the school year. This means that students should be experts at accessing their Google Classrooms, turning in work digitally, and checking their grades and assignments. Parents should have the Remind App and should know how to communicate with their advisory teacher. If you are struggling with any of these things, let your advisory teacher or the administration know so we can help you out. Now that we've had the whole first quarter to adjust to full distance learning, we now need to dig deep, work hard and learn lots!
Even as we improve our work in Distance Learning, we are still eager to return to school in-person as soon as we are able. Once we have permission to begin having kids return, we'll be in close communication on how that will impact you and your student. Here's our district information on returning to school. We miss our students and really hope to see them soon!
Even though we are in Distance Learning, we are trying to provide lots of ways for kids to connect to school and clubs. Here is a current list of what we have put together (with more on the way).
If you are having problems with any of your technology, you can contact the technology help desk directly at 503-886-8956 or by emailing techhelp@hsd.k12.or.us
Hopefully, you and your family are staying safe and staying caught up on schoolwork. Even working through this challenging year, our goal is that South Meadows students will thrive and be prepared for success in high school and beyond! Thanks for all your support in making this happen. As a community, we'll succeed together. We hope you have wonderful holidays and a happy new year!
Go Hawks!

Research shows that educating teens and the community about tough topics like depression and suicide can be a powerful way to prevent tragedy and get people important resources for mental health. We'll be doing some lessons around resources for depression and suicide prevention the week of December 7th in our advisory classes. It will be important for us have a strong connection with students and we request that they have cameras on during this lessons so we can monitor students' wellbeing during this sensitive topic. There will be counselor support available if a student needs support after discussing this content. If you have questions, please contact your child's counselor for more details on these lessons. Here's the letter with more details: Adi's Act Parent/Guardian Communication.

Please bring back any books from last year any day you can. Thanks for your help bringing back these items, even if they are from your elementary school. We'll take them!
The district will keep everyone appraised about our possible approach to coming back to school in person based on COVID-19 case numbers and guidance from the state office of education. At this time, we still do not meet the metrics for returning to school. Check the HSD website for more information.
