MUSTANG MINUTE
APRIL
April 25, 2022
Greetings Mustangs,
April showers bring May flowers! April also brings the descent towards the end of the year. We have many events and activities to celebrate and I hope that you have the opportunity to join the CHS community to support our Mustangs.
Prom is this weekend and is indeed an exciting event! We are looking forward to welcoming students to CHS for an enchanted evening. Please remember that regular school rules apply. We expect our students to be dressed appropriately for a school sponsored event and to follow school rules including the drug/alcohol/tobacco/vaping policy. Help us to make this event memorable for all the right reasons!
Dress Code for Prom is Formal Attire, please ensure that you are dressed for a formal event.
This Friday our Senior class will take the first step as they move toward graduation and we will honor them in our Step Down Assembly. Note that Friday we will be on an alternative schedule.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Appetizer Donations Needed!
Chugiak Student Government is looking for willing parents to donate appetizers/cutlery for prom. Any appetizer/cutlery donations are welcome and greatly appreciated. In particular, we are looking for items such as: plates, forks, napkins, cups, cake, cheese, meat, vegetable and fruit platters. We are not trying to provide a full meal but we’d like to offer those students who may not have the opportunity to go out and eat beforehand, and everyone something to munch on throughout the evening. We currently have donated water, Soda Jerk, cupcakes, and mozzarella sticks. If you have any questions please reach out to Miss. Sullivan at sullivan_erin@asdk12.org. Donations can be dropped off at the school on April 30th starting around 6 pm or pre-arranged with the prom committee beforehand. Thank you so much.

Step Down
With a return to having all school assemblies, student government is excited to announce that we will be able to have our annual Step-Down Assembly which will take place on Friday, April 29th . Step Down is a Chugiak tradition where each class submits appropriate photos from favorite memories, events, and moments throughout the school year to representatives from Student Government. Then Student Government takes the photos and compiles them into a video collage as a closure to this school year and transition to the next. For Seniors, it is their final farewell. During the viewing Seniors move to the gym floor and each class takes the bleachers of where they will sit in the fall.
For this to happen, Student Government needs photos. Freshmen-Juniors, please submit your photos to chugiakhighschoolstudgov@gmail.com. Please include your name and what grade you are in. Ex: John Doe (Freshmen)
Seniors, Student Government needs photos from your Freshmen-Senior years. Please also upload @ chugiakhighschoolstudgov@gmail.com. When you do, please include your name and what year the picture took place. For example: John Doe (Senior) and this happened during Freshmen year.
Step Down Clothing Swap
Are you graduating and want to donate your old Chugiak gear? Do you have a current class clothing item that you won't be needing again in the future? Student Government has heard that students either need Chugiak gear and/or clothing in their class colors. Well, this year at Step Down we would like to invite anyone who wants to clean out their supply of Chugiak gear and/or old class color clothing and bring them to Step Down on April 29th for a clothing swap. We will put all items donated on tables in the main gym and if a student needs certain apparel, they will be free to take. So, start cleaning out that closet. You can drop your donations by Room 11 (Sully's Classroom) anytime now through April 29th.
Step Down Spirit Week
The final spirit week for the year is quickly approaching. For your planning purposes, the spirit days are as follows:
