A Message from Mrs. Stauffer
Rainbow Celebrates Patriots Day
Dear Rainbow Families,
Patriots Day is celebrated on September 11th. It is a day that we remember events that happened in 2001. On that day, terrorists attacked the United States. Patriots Day honors those who lost their lives and brave heroes who helped people in need that day.
Today Rainbow students, faculty and staff took time to pay tribute to the thousands of citizens who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and to honor our Heroes: Our Service Members, First responders, Firefighters, Police Officers, Doctors, and Nurses.
We gathered around at the flagpole during an assembly. Westwood Fire Company and Valley Township participated in our assembly. Rainbow students and staff wore red, white, and blue today to honor our first responders.

I also need parent volunteers. Volunteers must have all their clearances on file in the office.

We are using SignUpGenius for the Rainbow Garden Club.
The meetings will be on the following dates:

If you prefer to pay in cash, please come to Rainbow’s main office to make a payment. Payments are accepted Monday-Friday from 10:00am-2:30pm. Please DO NOT send cash payments into school with your student.
As always, the technology insurance fee for students receiving compass benefits is waived. Also, there is an annual cap of $100 per family to support families with multiple children. Please remit the posted technology insurance fees before the start of the school year - The discount is applied at checkout.
- Grades K-12: $40 per student
- The annual technology insurance fee includes one device repair per school year at no cost – The most common repair is replacing a screen at a cost of $450 for devices.
- Subsequent repairs beyond the first repair per school year incur a progressive repair deductible, depending on the device type.

PBIS Team Monthly Minute
PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. Here at Rainbow, part of our PBIS behavior incentives is Class Cash! Students work as a classroom team to earn class cash by being respectful, responsible, and safe in all areas of our building. At certain milestones of class cash, students will receive a reward. I know most classrooms look forward to 400 Class Cash dollars when they get to Pie a Principal or their Teacher! Fun fact: Students can earn cash from any staff member in the school EXCEPT their own teacher!
One way you can support PBIS at home: Have conversations with your child about what it looks like to be respectful, responsible, and safe at school!
Update from Rainbow's Instrumental Music Department
If your student participated in band or orchestra last year, they already signed up for lessons for the '23-'24 school year! If your student would like to change their instrument this year, then you will receive communication from Ms. Schaeffer about the next steps in the coming weeks.
Students in 4th and 5th grade who are interested in joining the band or orchestra will have the opportunity to test out and choose an instrument in the first two weeks of the school year. Once every student has chosen their instrument, you will receive information from Ms. Schaeffer including their instrument choice, how instrument lessons work, and more! This will include a permission slip to be signed and returned before they can start their lessons. Instrumental music is a fantastic way to get your child involved in their school and is proven to help students in other topics such as reading, math, science.
If your student participated in band or orchestra last year, then they already signed up for lessons for the '23-'24 school year! Ms. Schaeffer does not need anything from you in order for them to continue this year!
