Leopard Spotlight!
Traci Benson is our Leopard Spotlight award winner for 9.8.23! Mrs. Benson is a very caring educator and takes the time to get to know each of her students individually. She goes out of her way to connect with students and help with their specific needs. We are grateful for the team mentality that she brings to the math department at LHS.

Enter the student's ID number for the passcode. The price increases as we get closer to the date. Students are limited to 2 tickets.
For student guests that are not a LHS student, two forms will need to be filled out (one is paper, the other electronic), due to Ms. Martinez by 9/13. Guests cannot be in middle school nor can they be 21 years or older.

Juniors! Class Ring Presentation - September 12th during Leopard Time
Congratulations 11th grade parents! Your student is now qualified to order their 2025 Custom Class Ring! On Tuesday, September 12th Jostens will be sharing information about how to take part in this 188- year tradition. Please watch your email for a copy of what your Junior received at the Jostens meeting. Order by the deadline on the information sheet to receive the best pricing and prepare to celebrate with your student!

Update HB 114
There has been a significant change in the law that directly impacts our school district’s approach to addressing e-cigarette usage on school premises. Recently, the Texas legislature passed a new law, House Bill 114, that requires school districts to implement mandatory Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) placement for students found in possession of, using, selling, giving, or delivering e-cigarettes on school grounds or at a school-related event.
Effective September 1, our school district will be enforcing this new state law, and any student violating the new law related to e-cigarettes will be subject to a DAEP placement. Our primary goal is to ensure the well-being and academic success of all students. By enforcing the DAEP placement for e-cigarette violations, this law aims to discourage the use of harmful substances and create a safer environment that supports the overall health and development of our students.
As we navigate this new legal requirement, we value your partnership and input as parents and guardians. If you need assistance in talking to your child about the dangers of vaping, or your child is in need of support to quit vaping, the linked resources provided by the Anti-Vaping Truth Initiative are available.

MAP Growth Assessments
Beginning this school year your child will be taking MAP Growth, a norm-referenced assessment which measures achievement and growth in K–12 math, reading, language usage, and science. This assessment will provide valuable information to help teachers develop responsive plans to meet the needs of ALL students. More information about MAP Growth can be found in the

Notes from Nurse
All needed forms can be found at LHS Clinic.
All medication must be dropped off by a parent/guardian to the nurse in the original unexpired bottle with the required paperwork. Medication cannot be left at the front desk. Please schedule an appointment for medication drop off.

*Please use this email to sign your student out of school. We will be using the pass system again this year to release students from the classroom for appointments. Sending the request in early will ensure the student is released on time and with less interruption to classroom instruction.
*When sending us an email, please specify how your student will be picked up and who will be picking them up.

VOE (Verification of Enrollment)
If your student needs a VOE for driver's permit or license, please send requests to
marisa_davis@lovejoyisd.net and your student can pick up at the front reception desk. The VOE expires in 30 days after the request.

Stickers will be picked up at LHS in the School Store
Please bring your valid Driver’s License and Proof of Insurance with you at time of parking sticker pick up. Students will sign the Parking Expectations agreement at this time. The sticker must be placed on the passenger side lower front windshield. This google form with vehicle information will also need to be completed: Parking Google Form.

When trying to get into a highly competitive field, admissions officers will look to see what classes you took advantage of (which are offered at LHS) that relate to the area you seek to major in. They want to know if you dedicated time inside and outside the classroom to that particular area. Ultimately, they want to see if you've demonstrated investment and effort in your area of interest and determine if you're a strong candidate for their program. It's important to remember that sometimes it's better to take a class that aligns with your desired major, even if it doesn't earn you the highest GPA points. Admissions officers are looking for passionate and dedicated students in their chosen field, and taking relevant courses can demonstrate that.

The Lovejoy Green Team is implementing a
new recycling program beginning on Sept. 8th at Leopard Stadium. There are an estimated
4000 bottles at every varsity home football game that have been going to the landfill but they can be recycled. The Lovejoy Green Team
receives no funding from Lovejoy ISD and we need your help to
buy bins for fields, courts and gyms.

The PTSO Hospitality team welcomed LHS staff back to school with a Grab and Go style lunch and stocked their lounge full of treats and drinks!
