Seeking a Donation: WJHS is looking for a gaming system to use as an incentive for our Three Pillars of Expectations program. Any chance you have one sitting at home collecting dust? Let Ms. Quattrone know.
ATTENDANCE - Student attendance has a direct impact on student success, and students with accumulating absences will continue to be contacted by the WJHS attendance team so that we can help problem-solve. You may receive communication even if your student's absences are excused or due to medical reasons.
Attendance & Tardy policy: Class at WJHS begins at 8:20am. Please review the attendance & tardy policy (pages 4-6) in the WJHS Student Handbook and reach out if you have any questions or concerns related to attendance.
Attendance FAQ
Why am I receiving a letter about my child's attendance?
As our team continues to monitor and support student attendance, you may receive notification in the mail of accumulating absences. Some reminders of how these absences add up:
- Students will be excused up to 7 times with parent/guardian contact. 3 days of illness in a row may require a physician's excuse.
- Student illness beyond 7 times will be excused with medical documentation or determination by a school nurse.
- Chronic Absenteeism from school is considered to be absent, for any reason, for 10% or more of the school year.
We aim to partner with you and collaborate together.
Student Spotlight:
- DuPage County 4-H International Night 2023 - Saturday, April 15th, 6-9pm in Wheaton. Check out this FLYER for more information. Simon, one of our 7th grade students will be presenting at this event!
- Theater of Western Springs - Check out the performance of Seussical Jr. to see a few of our WJHS students performing!
Westmont Public Library Events - Looking for something fun to do? Be sure to check out the library's events for all ages!
Tommy's Toy Drive - Former student, Tommy Niemeyer, was just seven-years-old when he was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. He conquered cancer ten years ago and always felt the support of the district and community.
Now as a senior at Westmont High School, Tommy wants to give back to the hospitals and the Treasure Chest Foundation with our help!
Please consider donating a toy or item (infants through 18 year olds) from March 1- March 15. The toys can be dropped off into the marked Tommy's Truckload of Toys bin at your school. All toys need to be new. No stuffed animals please. These toys will be given to children going through cancer treatment, as a way to bring them a smile during such a hard part in their lives.
Covid Testing - The District will be providing free COVID-19 testing every Monday. The testing is optional. Please use this link (CUSD 201 COVID-19 testing) if you wish to enroll your child for testing.
Remember to check the WJHS calendar for up-to-date information on Clubs, Events, & Athletics.
Sincerely,
Amy Quattrone
WJHS Principal
