- We must have courage no matter what the obstacle is was shown throughout The Diary of Anne Frank. If you have read the book or the play you would know that sometimes the families loses there's courage. You always need to have courage especially if it is this time in history. In the story Mrs.Van Daan said “ You’re not hopeless. Don't talk that way” (386). What she means by that is you just can't give up. You have to have courage to move on and get it done. “ What it feels like to go into hiding… It's funny never to be able to go outdoors” (381) said Anne. And by what she means is no fresh air no running or jumping. But she still had courage. Anne said, “ Every time I hear a creak in the house or a step on the street outside, I'm sure they are coming for us” (381). When Anne had those thoughts she had to think I'm going to be ok. Nothing is going to happen. I'm safe. She had to think thighs little thoughts to know she was going to be safe. She had courage.
- You need to have hope, everyone does is shown throughout The Diary of Anne Frank. Everyone had hope. And when someone didn't someone would help then get it back. In the story Anne is not a very big fan of her mother. And Margot helps her mom get through this tough time. She said “she'll get over it” (399). And by that they were talking about how Margot was different from Anne. How she went to her mom instead of her dad. And the mother said “ you weren't like this. You didn't shut me out” (399). Mrs. Frank was losing her hope and Margot helped her find it. Another time that they were having hope is when Anne gave cigarettes to Mr. Van Daan. They didn't know if they were going to work so Mrs. Van Daan said “ let me see… Well, look at that! …light it” (403). And so they did and it really worked. These are the time that you really need to have hope. Thought the bad and good times. No madder what.
