Message from the Superintendent
Greetings Emery community,
Congratulations on completing the first half of the school year! I am so proud of our students’ growth and achievement and our staff members’ hard work to ensure they meet their goals.
Our school district appreciates the continued parent engagement. I hope this break gives you time to spend with your loved ones and plan for another great year. I am excited about what the new year has in store for everyone. During this break, I encourage families to read together. Reading is a great way to spend quality time with your loved ones and support your child’s literacy.
I wish our students, staff, and families a restful break. I appreciate your commitment to our students every day. We appreciate your leadership and hard work. Have a wonderful holiday break and a happy new year!
Sincerely,
Dr. Quiauna Scott
Superintendent

Elevate Oakland at EUSD
We are excited to share that Elevate Oakland is facilitating a student choir for TK through 3rd grade and an after-school choir program. Elevate Oakland leverages music and the arts to provide life-changing tools for youth to accomplish their goals, enrich their lives, and inspire them to strive for greatness. The program provides students with access to mentoring, nurturing, instruction, and training by dedicated professional artists and musicians. We look forward to sharing more about our students' achievements with Elevate Oakland!

California School Dashboard
The California School Dashboard (Dashboard) is an online tool designed to help communities across the state access important information about kindergarten through grade twelve schools and districts. The Dashboard features easy-to-read reports on multiple measures of school success.
The Dashboard represents one of many steps taken over the past decade that have raised the bar for student learning, increased the focus on equity, and expanded the review of performance data to a specific set of state and local measures. For more information, please visit the Dashboard website at https://www.caschooldashboard.org/.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a program that encourages reading the moment your child is born! Once every month, this program will carefully select and send age-appropriate books for your child to keep. Reading these books with your child supports their early learning skills!
All children from newborn to five years old can receive books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library! We encourage all eligible families of EUSD to sign up for this program, even if your child is not yet old enough to attend school.

ECAP will be holding its 2023 Annual Holiday Dinner Distribution Project this year on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Emeryville Center for Community Life (ECCL) at the corner of San Pablo Avenue and Steve Dain Drive (47th Street).
ECAP plans to prepare 2,000 hot dinners to distribute to homeless encampments and senior centers throughout Emeryville, Oakland, and Berkeley.
ECAP is seeking volunteers of all ages for that day and during the previous week to help prepare for the event and cook, serve, and distribute the meals on Saturday, December 30.

Community Resources
During the holidays, people of all ages may experience various emotions. Therefore, it is crucial to prioritize mental health and overall well-being. Engaging in self-care activities, spending time with loved ones, and setting limits to cope with stress can all be helpful for families.
