A Message From the Principal
As we continue our campaign to raise awareness about bullying prevention in our schools. Here at Silver Springs will be doing things to promote kindness. For example, each Monday during the month of October let's all wear blue to promote kindness!
This week's Choose Kindness Challenge is to remember to say thank you. The two simple words "Thank you" can be incredibly powerful. They can make someone feel valued and appreciated. It could even change someone's day!
I challenge you to say thank you to others to show your gratitude! I'm looking forward to another great Choose Kindness Week!
Here's to a fun, kind, October!

2017-18 Annual Notifications / Opt Out of Release of Directory Information Form
Dear Parent/Guardian,
There are a number of circumstances in which Northville Public Schools may publicly disclose basic information about students, including students’ names, grade level, awards earned, and extracurricular and athletic participation. This information is known as “directory information.” As required by law, Northville Public Schools provides parents information about “directory information” in its “Annual Notifications to Parents” disseminated electronically, and available on the District’s website. Another copy of that document is attached. You have the right to opt your student out of the disclosure of directory information.
A recent amendment to Michigan’s Revised School Code requires public school districts to develop a form that parents may complete to opt their students out of the disclosure of directory information. The law also requires that districts present that form to parents within the first 30 days of the school year. A copy of the Northville Public Schools’ form, with instructions for how to submit it, is attached.
Many of you may have completed Northville’s online registration process. Part of that process included questions about whether you consented to the disclosure of certain information about your student.Completion of the registration process, regardless of how you may have answered the questions, is not sufficient to opt your student out of the disclosure of directory information . To opt your student out, you must either submit the attached form or otherwise provide the District written notice that you have decided to opt your student out of the disclosure of such information. Return of the form to your child's school office is requested within thirty days of recent of this notice (no later than Wednesday, November 1, 2017) if you would like to opt out of disclosure of directory information.
If you have any questions or concerns after reviewing this information, please contact nps@northvilleschools.org or the Office of Instruction/Student Data at 248-344-3524.
Sincerely,
Mary Kay Gallagher

Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!
Habit #7: Sharpen the Saw
What this means: Balance feels best. In order to maintain and increase effectiveness, we must renew ourselves in body, mind, heart and soul.
“I take care of my body by eating right, exercising, and getting sleep.”
“I find meaningful ways to help others.”
“I spend time with family and friends.”
“I learn in lots of ways and places, not just at school.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Go for a walk.
2. Read a book.
3. Volunteer in your community.
4. Value the difference in others.
