When I think of May, I think of the ‘unofficial’ start to summer. This is the month many kids get out of school for summer, many pools open for the summer, and many of us will be donning summer clothes for the first time in months. If getting in shape for summer is a goal, now is the time, and I’m here to help! This month we have lots of great options that will hopefully inspire you anew!

GET HEALTHIER WITH A TEAM! NEW CHALLENGE GROUPS STARTING SOON...
It’s a proven fact that we are more likely to achieve our health and fitness goals if we work on it together with a friend or a group of friends. Sometimes it takes being accountable to someone else to get us in the habit of being accountable to ourselves, and that's when being a part of an accountability group can make a world of difference to our success.
If you’ve never joined a challenge group, I encourage you to reconsider! It's always incredibly inspiring, supportive, and motivating to be a part of one, full of people who are doing amazing things and keeping their promises to themselves and to each other. Together we are stronger! My groups are always free – the only cost is access to the program we’re doing.

Challenge Du Jour - Starting Monday, May 16th
For this challenge, I’m teaming up with my amazing coach, Tania "The Machine" Baron. (You may remember her as the modifier from T25 and Insanity, also in the cast of Cize). This group will last 4 weeks and each day we will do the Challenge Du Jour workout in Beachbody OnDemand and replace one meal or snack with Shakeology. It's definitely going to be a large, fun and lively group!
If you haven't tried Beachbody OnDemand, this is a great time to see what everyone loves about it...it's super convenient to be able to stream workouts anywhere you have a fast internet connection. There's even an iPhone app you can use with it.
We’ll never do the same workout twice all month, so if you’re someone who gets bored easily, this is the challenge for you!
Also this challenge group will NOT take place on Facebook. For this challenge, we will be using the special Beachbody Challenge Group app. So if you are social media averse, please consider this option.
All you need to participate in this challenge is Beachbody OnDemand and Shakeology. If you already have both, just let me know and I’ll add you to the group. If you don’t have them yet, you can get them in a challenge pack.

The Master’s Hammer & Chisel - starting June 6th
For this challenge, we’re going to build strong, sculpted bodies with seasoned trainers Sagi Kalev and Autumn Calabrese. This will be an 8 week challenge with 30- to 40-minute resistance-training workouts designed for efficiency and effectiveness.
If you tend to stick to ‘just cardio’ workouts, this is a great chance to incorporate weights into your life. The truth is, weight training can have even an greater impact than cardio on fat loss, bone density, joint health and even helps with cardiovascular health. Get your dance on and save!

But just a few days later I managed to get through the whole thing! And had sooo much fun! OK, I still don't look like the professional dancers, but it's not about how it looks to someone else. It’s about moving your body, losing yourself in the music and having fun. AND if you think you can't get a great workout from just dancing, think again!

Eat Clean Recipe! Banana Apple Muffins
It seems like I always have a couple of bananas on the counter that are getting a little past their prime, and these Healthy Banana Apple Muffins from the FixAte cookbook are a great use for them. The kids love them, and they're Mom-approved too with no refined sugar and no refined flour. Make a double batch and freeze individual muffins for a great grab-and-go breakfast.
Each one of these counts as 1 purple and 1 blue in your meal plan.
Autumn’s Banana Apple Muffins
Serves 9, 1 muffin each
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup mashed ripe banana (about 2 medium bananas)
1 tbsp butter, melted
1 ½ cups almond flour
¾ tsp baking soda
1 dash salt
½ cup chopped or grated apple (about ¾ medium apple)
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Prepare nine muffin cups by lining with muffin tin liners or coating with spray.
3. Combine eggs, banana, and butter in a medium bowl; mix well. Set aside.
4. Combine almond flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl; mix well.
5. Add almond meal mixture to egg mixture; mix until blended.
6. Add apple; mix until just blended
7. Divide batter evenly between prepared muffin cups.
8. Bake 16-18 minutes, or until golden brown and toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Transfer muffins to rack; cool.
