10:00 a.m.

TRIP Program
Monthly SIP Day
TUESDAY, APRIL 2
at 1:30 p.m.
Don't forget to pick the kids up early! Extended Day will be available.
Achievement Testing
TUESDAY, APRIL 2 - MONDAY, APRIL 8
Students in grades 3 through 8 will take the ACT Aspire summative assessments next week. (We will NOT be testing on Thurs. April 4) Please make sure that your child arrives to school on time. If your child arrives to school late and testing has already begun, he or she will be unable to enter the classroom as this would cause a distraction to students already engaged in testing. Tardy students will have to wait in the office until the testing session concludes, and then will have to make up missed tests the following week.
Students in grades 5-8 ARE allowed to use calculators on the math portion of the assessment. Please ensure that your child has a working calculator.
Teachers will also be offering peppermint gum for the students to chew during the test time. Studies have shown that peppermint helps enhance concentration and focus. If you do not want your child to have gum, please email his/her teacher.
Please help your children to prepare for the assessments by making sure that they get a good night's sleep. Research shows that refraining from using screen-technology (phones, iPads, computers, etc…) at least an hour and a half before turning in results in a better night of rest than if you spend time working on a screen right before bed.
A hearty breakfast, words of encouragement, plenty of #2 sharpened pencils, and a highlighter are also ways to help your child have a successful testing experience.
Important HSA Meeting
Do you enjoy SAS family events like Frankfest, Trunk or Treat, the Daddy Daughter Dance, and Mother/Son Bowling? How about fun things for the kids like Santa's Secret Shop, Pajama Day milk & cookies, and the school picnic? These events don't happen without help, and over the last several years we have seen a serious decline in parents willing to lend a hand. Many of these events may have to be eliminated if the trend continues. Several lead parents and HSA board members are graduating their last children, so there is a need for fresh new leadership, as well as plenty of room for those who just want to help out here and there. Please come to the meeting and see where you fit in. We love to hear new ideas, too! (And you will earn a volunteer hour for attending the meeting.)
Mother/Son Bowling Filling Up Fast
Ticket order forms went home in last week's envelope. As of April 1, the price will be $35 per couple ($10 for each additional son of the same family), which gets you unlimited bowling, shoes, a photo keepsake magnet, and pizza. Orders that come in over the weekend will be filled at the $30 rate (envelopes marked Mom/Son Bowling can be turned in through the collection basket at church or dropped through the mail slot in the east-facing parish office door.) Lan Oak Lanes can accommodate 96 bowlers total, and we are nearly half sold out, so don't delay. Earn volunteer credit for next year by helping out or donating pop, sides, and desserts.
