Lorenzo Walker Technical High School Mission "Purpose" Statement
Welcome to Another Exciting Year!
We are thrilled to be starting a new school year. Our theme this school year is "Connections" as we aim to fulfill of our mission statement by creating the ultimate career and college preparatory education program for all students. The students have been engaging in activities that encourage connections to new students and staff. We also strive to make great connections with our families. Please feel free to reach out to our teachers, counselors or administration to remain connected to your son/daughter's education.
Our Freshmen are beginning to feel more comfortable as they are interacting with students from across Collier County. They are forming new friendships and learning the nuances of Lorenzo Walker. Our Sophomores walked into the new school year with the belief that they have "got this". The Juniors are starting the second half of their high school journey as they have begun their technical programs at Lorenzo Walker Technical College. The students are putting all they have learned so far in high school into practice as they are learning skills that will help them for the rest of their life. The Seniors have geared up to complete their high school journey and are beginning to plan the next phase in their pursuit of life-long learning.
We have had a terrific start to the 2019-20 school year and look forward to collaborating with all of our Lorenzo Walker families.
Whole School Read
Our Whole School Read was kicked off this week after a letter writing experience. Students wrote letters to students in different grade levels offering advice and sharing experiences. We hope that this will build camaraderie across grade levels and build relationships across campus. Students received their own book, and we encourage parents to ask questions about the book. There are also copies in the media center for check-out if you are interested in reading along with us. Stay tuned for updates throughout the year!
Club Day!
This one-year program is taught in a classroom setting and a lab for students to practice their knowledge using equipment from the industry. Students learn how to install, repair and perform maintenance on commercial and domestic air conditioning, refrigeration and heating systems, circuits and the refrigeration cycle. “If you have an interest and enjoy working on stuff, it is easy to do,” states Anneury Rosa, an adult in the program. Once a student completes the program and passes their certification as a National Air Conditioning Technician Excellence (NATE), there is an unlimited earning potential. If you complete this course and learn HVAC, you will always have a job.
