by Samantha Hoover
Location
This shows the area where Austin is located in the state of Texas. It represents the location theme of geography by showing the relative location of Austin. This picture is telling us that the city of Austin is located on the south-western tip of a triangle formed by itself, along with the cities of Dallas and Houston.
Place
The picture above of the city of Austin and Town Lake represents the place theme of geography. This picture shows a few of the physical features of Austin, like the city's lakes and greenery which is very unique for the state of Texas. Many people come down to lakes like the one pictured above to paddle-board, kayak, swim, fish and run.
Region 1
The photo above explains how Austin is the center of the music region of the United States. It is known as the Live Music Capital of the World. Music is one of the many cultures of Austin, which makes it different from any other city in the U.S.A.
Region 2
The crosses above show yet another region that Austin is a part of. Religion is one of the main cultural priorities of the people of Austin. Many different churches are available in the area for anyone to choose between. This point takes a big part in describing the people of Austin.
Region 3
The last region I will mention, that Austin is apart of, is the Hill Country region in Texas. This is one of the many things that makes Austin special. The Hills of Austin are a beautiful site to see and draw an ample amount wildlife into the area.
Movement 1
There are many different reasons for movement in Austin. This is to be expected, considering that Austin is one of the fastest growing cities in America. The picture of Dell, above, symbolizes one of the reasons for movement in Austin. Many different companies have expanded into this city, moving some of their employees here from other places around the world.
Movement 2
Another reason for movement in Austin is people traveling here for the food, live music, outdoor activities, university, gorgeous scenery and many other attractions. Austin is a popular city to visit because of its originality, pride, and incredibly nice people.
Human Environment-Interaction 1
There are many examples of human-environment interaction in Austin, Texas. One of the examples is all of the roads being built to lighten traffic in the area. Road construction is very common, and will help the flow of traffic so that cars will not continue to let out unnecessary exhaust into the atmosphere. Even though building more roads will slightly change the landscape of the city, it will end up helping reduce the amount of pollutants in our air.
Human-Environment Interaction 2
Another human-environment interaction is between the citizens of Austin and the lack of water in the lakes. Austin, along with many other cities in the state of Texas, is in a drought. This affects the residents of the city because they have to conserve as much water as possible. Water restrictions have been put into place, allowing the people of the area only one day a week to water their lawns.
