2nd Hand News
December 1-5
December is here after a great Thanksgiving rest. I hope you had a wonderful break with your families. Thank you so much for the birthday cupcakes to share with the class. It was a very thoughtful gesture and it brightened my day! There is also nothing better than receiving homemade cards from the children.
This week, we began to get our passports together for a holiday trip around the world in social studies. We will learn about how other cultures celebrate important days. The week's spelling activities focused on using the long vowel sounds -ee and -ea. In reading, the students are learning how to use the SRA system to help develop comprehension. The students used the ShowMe app on iPads to explain subtraction with regrouping in their own words.
A FEW THINGS
- Please keep the monthly reading calendar that was handed out this week in a convenient place. Students should be recording their minutes and book titles and watching them add up!
- Please remember it is Lower School policy that candy is not brought to school.
- The mitten tree is being decorated with hats, scarves, and mittens/gloves. Thank you for donating!
- Please return the BOTTOM of the permission slip for next Wednesday's trip to Peddler's Village. We will be visiting the gingerbread houses with first grade.
Have a great weekend.
With a smile,
Mrs. Nyce
