Thursday Thoughts
Second Grade
Dear Second Grade Parents,
Thank you for signing up for conferences today! We look forward to meeting with you in less than 2 weeks.
The children are quickly picking up the concepts learned in our "Zero the Hero" unit. One that we now understand is that zero keeps the other digits in their correct place.
For book clubs this week, children were able to choose from one of three books on bats. Ms. Holzer's group is reading Amazing Bats by Seymour Simon (nonfiction), Stellaluna by Janell Cannon (fiction) is the book for Mrs. King's group, and Mrs. Kaufman's group is enjoying Bat Loves the Night by Nicola Davies (fiction sprinkled with bat facts). We had a brief discussion on stereotypes that people have about bats. Some descriptive words that came up during this discussion about bats included "scary," "ugly," "cute," and "cool."
We are becoming experts on Eastern Woodlands housing by learning about the similarities and differences between wigwams and longhouses. Please see photos below!
Have a lovely weekend!
