Crime Stopper Presentations: Grades 3 - 5
In an effort to continue the development of our positive culture, deepen relationship skills and increase the safety of our students, Houston Crime Stoppers will do two presentation with our 3rd-5th Grade Students focusing on the topic, Being Nice (Mental Health).
This will compliment our Whole Child Model and Great 8 Counseling lessons by explicitly reinforcing the teaching of respect, tolerance and inclusion of all.
We are also scheduling Cyber Safety and Cyberbullying presentation for students. A Parent Information Session will also be scheduled.
Kindergarten G/T (Gifted & Talented) Testing
All kindergarten students will be screened and parents will be notified if referral for assessment is recommended based on the results of the screener.
Parents of students who have been referred by individuals other than their parents will be contacted to complete the online referral form. No student may be denied access to the Humble ISD Gifted and Talented Program on the basis of race, creed, or handicapping conditions. Referrals should be completed in the online portal on the Advanced Academics website.
The portal will be available until January 10. GT Online Referral Form

Reading is Our Superpower Reading Program
Reading Is Our Super Power!
At SWE, we are all Superheros and…...
READING IS OUR SUPERPOWER!!
By showing that READING IS THEIR SUPERPOWER, students can earn stars to give their class a chance to win FREE BOOKS for their classroom library! Each class has their own superhero cape at the end of each grade level hallway.
As students read the allotted books and share with their teacher, they will earn a star to hang on their class cape. The more stars on your cape, the greater your chances to win free books!
How do students earn stars?
Students K-2 will read 10 books to earn a star (class read alouds, parent read alouds and independent reading counts!)
Students 3-5 will read 5 books (4 chapter books and one free choice)
‘Superhero Star Decorating Parties’ : Students who have earned a star will be invited to a “Superhero Star Decorating Party” to color their star (and receive small prizes) during lunch. Stars will then be added to class capes.
Tentative dates are Dec 5th, Jan 30th and Feb 24th.
