What's The Buzz
Week Of April 4th - April 8th
Reading: Non Fiction
I can find text evidence to answer questions by reading a story & using the "Text Evidence" Chart. I can explain why good readers predict, change their predictions, and use text evidence by using the Text Evidence Chart.
I can learn new vocabulary by listening to the story. I can create an armadillo and use it as the main character in my fiction story.
Word Work & Grammar:
I can read and write words with the long "a" sound (ai, ay, and a_e) by writing them on my white board.
I can identify U.S. coins, including pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters, by value and describe the relationships among them.
I can use relationships to count by twos, fives, and tens to determine the value of a collection of pennies, nickels, and/or dimes.
I can distinguish between spending and saving and define money earned as income by writing about needs and wants in my math journal.
Science / Social Studies:
I can recognize the different types of landforms and bodies of water across the state of Texas. Students will place pictures of landforms on a map of Texas according to the area of Texas in which it is found.
• geography: the study of the Earth and its features
