Catholic Schools Week 2021 ~ Special Edition

Welcome to National Catholic Schools Week (CSW) in the Diocese of San Diego!

CSW is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States, running January 31 to February 6, 2021. Now entering its 47th year, CSW helps showcase what makes Catholic schools so attractive to families when they are searching for the right school for their children. Schools typically observe the week with Masses, assemblies and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members to celebrate and congratulate.

This year’s theme is Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service. Catholic schools have a specific purpose to form students to be good citizens of the world, love God and neighbor, and enrich society with the “Good News” by being an example of faith.

As communities of faith, Catholic schools instill in students their destiny to become saints. Academic excellence is the hallmark of Catholic education intentionally directed to the growth of the whole person – mind, body and spirit. Finally, service is fundamental to Catholic education and the core of Catholic discipleship. Service is intended to help form people who are not only witnesses to Catholic social teaching, but also active participants through social learning.

We honor and celebrate the many students, families, teachers, staff, principals, pastors, religious women, parishioners, benefactors, and all who contribute to the beauty and success of our Catholic schools. Check out the wonderful things happening at your local Catholic school during CSW. You can find us at https://www.sdcatholicschools.org/.

May the same God who inspires the mission of Catholic schools bless you and all you love…always!

In Mission,

John Galvan
