Belmont Elementary: A PAWSitive Place to Learn!

Short and Sweet!

I feel like August was both SHORT and SWEET! Here we are in September and our Bulldogs are doing a FANTABULOUS job of learning the routines and expectations that make our days as efficient and effective as possible. I'm really proud of the work our team has done to build consistency for our students and of the way our students have responded to the job in front of them. We've got a LOT of work to do this year to not only catch up from the chaos of the last few years, but to keep pushing toward the potential that is inside of every child. We may not all be there....YET....but we're on our way! Our team looks forward to the opportunities we'll have to collaborate with your family about your child. If you have a question or concern, please do not hesitate to reach out, and we will do the very same.

Conference schedules will open soon to allow for either a sit down or on-the-line celebration of your child during our planned conference days of Wednesday, September 28 from 4:30-8 and Thursday, September 29 from 10-8. You'll have the opportunity to request a timeframe that works best for you during these two days. Then, from the office, we will make sure that all of your children are scheduled closely together to best accommodate your family.

Exciting news! The PTO will again sponsor a Scholastic Book Fair during conferences. LOVE it!! Can't wait to have you all in the building for conferences!

Thanks for a BEautiful BEginning! I am so grateful for our learning community!

Save the Date!! We have a plan for the 2022 Bulldog Dash!! We'll be celebrating Dash Day on Wednesday, September 21st! That's the day that begins at 10:45am due to the district late-start plan. Every grade level will have a specific time to run and as parents, you will be invited to either volunteer (we celebrate each lap with a rubber bracelet) or participate with your child. Times will be announced in next Friday's Paw Print.

We are looking for volunteers to help with the organization of the Dash! It's a wonderful tradition at Belmont, but there are several moving parts! Watch for a volunteer/participant sign up next week. In the meantime, if you are available all day and want to be a super volunteer, email or just reply to this email to let someone know you want to be a Dash Hero!

Looking for other SPECIFIC ways to support our school through PTO leadership? Check out the list below and consider joining the fun!

  • Co-Chair This position helps support and facilitate all of the things! This person does hold a decision-making seat on the oversight board and will be backed up and supported by an entire team of awesome people.
  • Book Fair Co-Chair Another favorite around here are the TWO Scholastic Book Fairs that we host each year. We're all scheduled for this year, but the nuts and bolts of the fair are ready to be passed on to a new team. Who's ready to bring on the books? We'll train you!
  • Organizer of the Dog Piles This does sound a bit suspicious, but another FUNdraising opportunity at Belmont is the surprise Dog Pile. Have you seen the flamingo fad? We've got our own version and it's so much fun to see where the dog piles will pop up in the spring. We need organizers of the pop ups, and people to make the magic happen!
  • PTO@BelmontPTO Email Monitor Are you the master of your account? Want to also be the master of ours so that we don't miss anyone? We'd love to share that love!
  • Website Master Our BEPTO website is WordPress driven and ready for a new updater! Is that YOU? Are YOU a WordPress master? It's not that it's hard, it just needs done!
  • YOU! We just need YOU to watch for Bulldog Dash information and have fun with us as we FUNdraise.

Belmont Elementary Site Council 2022-2023

The Belmont Elementary Site Council meets four times yearly and participates as an advisory council with liaison expectations in the community. As a committee, we have no actual authority, however, the Kansas State Board of Education, through Kansas legislation, requires schools to solicit feedback from their stakeholders. This group of individuals comes together to better understand the goals and functions of each school community. Last year, our Site Council had plans to host multiple incredible parent education events, but in light of safety measures, ended up launching the ReSiLiEnCy PrOjEcT, which you will find on our school website. After all, this parenting thing is HARD and we can all use a little advice now and then! If you'd like to be a part of our Site Council, please email me ASAP! We will meet (virtually for now) from 4:30-5:15pm on October 3rd, December 5th, February 6th, and April 3rd.
