Focus on..... QUALITY instruction
The GaDOE has released it's updated High Impact Practice Implementation Rubric. This is a tool that we will be using as we continue to do daily walk throughs and awareness walks. You will all have a copy in your box upon returning from break. We KNOW, as educators, that if we expose our scholars continuously to the standards based content (This is not merely posting the LEQ or standard on your board) and we have set high expectations of our scholars by continuously building meaningful relationsihps -- scholar achievement will soar. In order to build this culture of instruction, think about this statement:
"After all, the unit of change for student achievement and school improvement is not central office; it is not a new text book or basal reader; and it's not even a new set of state - wide curriculum standards. The unit of change for student achievement and school improvement is .....YOUR CLASSROOM."
As we close the first nine weeks and begin the second nine weeks, we have had an intense focus on increasing engagement by offering and designing ELITE active engagement activities and embedding them into our lesson design. As we continue to plan for our scholars, think about your lesson designs. Think less about compliance (I don't care if the LEQ is posted if it is not integrated into the work you are doing with your scholars.) and more about quality. This nine weeks, with the support of my team, we will be focusing on high quality instruction-- a relentless pursuit and focus on daily instructional practices.

What I'm Reading....
When I went with Dr. Brooksher this week to the GA DOE Instructional Leadership conference, I was fortunate to hear Dr. Donyall Dickey as the key note speaker. His message was powerful because it wasn't your typical, "love kids, build relationships, culture and climate" presentation. We know that is ALL critical to growing scholars and growing a schoolhouse, but his work was ALL about the quality of instruction and thinking about what we are putting in front of our scholars. Talk about a gut check.
"All learning communities have a culture, many articulate meaningful and measurable instructional goals, but few have a culture of instruction."
So his book promptly bumped up on my list. I am hoping to spend most of tomorrow reading and relaxing at TYB. I am amped up
What are you reading right now? I would LOVE to hear about a great book you are reading or one that you have read and add it to my list!

#RTB
Where are you?
Watch this video and reflect: Are you ABOVE the line or BELOW the line......
E+R = O and #RTB are all about living above the line-- but you have to make a concerted effort everyday to live that way.
