Social Emotional Learning and You
June 2021
Summer Learning to Support Mental Health and Social Emotional Learning
Connecting with Nature, "a greenspace" helps us to cope with events outside of our control. Taking time to be outside and in greenspaces supports humans physical and mental health. In Montcalm County there are many spaces to find nature. Parks, Beaches and Trails are abundant in Montcalm County.
When we are getting outside and connecting with nature we are more apt to connect also with physical activity. Physical activity has been shown to improve symptoms of anxiety and depression and improve an overall sense of wellbeing.
As humans we are mammals and wired for connection with communities of people. It is not about the quantity of relationships but the quality. One strong adult connection can support resiliency in a students life.
There are some links included below of where to find some ideas and videos for your family to stay connected to nature, activity and community.
If you have any questions or are wanting additional Mental Health Support please contact school administration and they can put you in contact with you 31N Mental Health Liaison.
