Field Flash
February 27, 2020
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Pre-registration is ongoing and we are in the very earliest stages of planning for next year. New families and incoming kindergarten families can pre-register via the school district website. For all returning K through 4th grade students, we are going to start the process that leads to class creation. This is a process that involves teachers, administrators, and parents via the feedback you give us. If you are interested in telling us a little bit about your student's personality or learning style, any peers with whom you would like them paired or kept apart, or any other learning factors you would like us to know, please email that to me at jbednar@d64.org. This information will be kept confidential, so please tell me anything you think can help us make the best classes. PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR A SPECIFIC TEACHER. Letters that include requests for specific teachers will not be considered. Your feedback about your learner will be combined with our teachers' knowledge of your student at school to create exceptional learning communities for next year. The deadline for submitting this information is Thursday, March 19, 2020. Please do not miss this deadline. If you have any questions, please let me know.
I also want to ask parents to make sure they are calling the attendance line and leaving an explanation for their child's absence. We are in the middle of flu season and we need to have a reason listed to excuse absences. We don't want you to send your child to school while sick, but we do need to ask that you make sure you call 847-318-4385 and leave a reason for your child's absence on that line. If my own practice as a parent is helpful, I put my children's school attendance line as a contact on my cell phone so I don't have to search for it very hard.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jason Bednar
Principal, Field School
