FAC Weekly Update
November 8, 2019
Good afternoon, Fine Arts Center Family
I hope you had a wonderful week!
Another productive week is in the books. Congratulations to our Brass, Winds, and Percussion students on their fabulous performance at Wednesday night's concert! A lot of growth has taken place since the start of the school year, and we look forward to watching these students continue to flourish under the direction of Mr. Strasser.
In other news...
A little update on our Raise Craze stats! So far, we’ve had 278 students register, collected $14,430 in donations, and completed 169 acts of kindness completed! Students have sent over 1,150 emails to potential supporters. Ms. Knox's Voice Studio is currently in the lead, having raised over $4,000 in just one week! For daily updates, follow us on social media and be sure to check out the Leaderboard at
As of today, we have just over 60% of our students participating. If your child has not registered, please take a moment to bring them to a computer to complete this important step. We want 100% student participation in this important endeavor! Registration instructions are listed in the section below. Also, students are reminded to check off acts of kindness as they complete them. Thank you for your support!
Here is the latest from the halls of the FAC...
This Week's Student Leadership Lesson
"If I had to kick the person most responsible for my problems, I couldn't sit down for a week."
- D.L. Moody
Don't blame others. Take the opportunity EVERY DAY to improve yourself by being brutally honest...with yourself! If you work on yourself and take ownership of your problems, all else will fall into place.

From the Visual Arts Department
Next week, the FAC will host the Peace Paper Project Residency! The Peace Paper program is an international collaboration with artists, educators, activists, art therapists and healing populations that uses traditional hand papermaking as a form of healing and community empowerment.
The Peace Paper Project will demonstrate it's portable paper studio, engaging students to use the bicycle-powered pulper to transform T-shirts from past Fine Art School events, students clothing and materials from Peace Paper Projects recent travels making paper with refugees in Germany and war veterans in the US. Throughout the interactive demonstration, students will learn about the history of papermaking as both an ancient craft, but also how it is being used as a form of locally engaged art and art therapy.
By using both local and far-away fibers, students will be able to connect local connections and international work; while creating their own personal expressions regarding international activism, as well as arts & healing.
