Message from the Superintendent
NSSD Parents:
(added to original message from 11/12/20) The Governor's statement on Nov 14th ordering a two-week freeze from November 18 to December 2nd has created questions from parents as to whether students will come to our schools this week for Limited In-Person Instruction. We want to clarify that our Limited In-Person Instruction will go forward as planned beginning on Nov. 16. Those students and parents who have been notified that they will be coming to school should continue to plan to do so. Small groups are planned and safety plans are in place. The District will continue to monitor the rate of infections and will communicate updates as the situation changes.
As we begin to slowly start Limited In-Person Learning (LIPI) next week, we'd like to share some guidelines and resources with you regarding when to keep your student home and when it is safe for them to return to school. Once we believe we have a safe and effective system of moving students in and out of our buildings, we will slowly begin expanding the number of students who can participate, assuming that positive COVID-19 case rates do not rise to a level where we are forced to close down again.
If you do not already have a functioning thermometer, please consider purchasing one ASAP so you will be able effectively monitor your student before sending them to school. Each school is running their own LIPI schedule so if you have any questions, please direct them to your child's school directly.

COVID-19 Related Resources & District Info is available on the District's website, including our Comprehensive Communicable Disease Management Plan.
The Governor’s release of new health metrics on Friday, Oct. 30 does allow districts more flexibility, however, these changes occur at the same time that we see rapid increases in the rate of COVID cases everywhere. We have seen districts across the state begin to in-person school, only to have to shut down due to infections. This underscores the importance of all of our parents, students and community members adhering to guidelines from our health authorities as much as possible. We ask for your cooperation and assistance to help us move forward to bring more students into our schools.
Andy Gardner,
NSSD Superintendent
