Captain's Log
PASS CHRISTIAN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
Ahoy, Pirates!
It is hard to believe that we are only 3 days away from the first day of school. After five months, we are cautiously yet excitedly awaiting the moment that you and our children return to the classrooms. Over the last few months, we met with stakeholder groups, including teachers, families, medical providers, and community members, to identify areas that needed to be addressed prior to August 5.
At the Tuesday, July 14, 2020, board meeting, we offered two options for a safe school return: Safety-Enhanced Traditional Return and Online Only: PeLA 2.0. We were also given the authority to move to a hybrid plan or online in the event of local spread in our school zone and/or schools. To that end, we have purchased supplies and developed protocols for you and our children that will help mitigate and slow the spread. Further, we have purchased a learning management system for daily usage that will enable us to make school-based academic adjustments quickly and more efficiently.
These are uncharted waters that we are approaching. I would like to personally thank you for your commitment to our safe return. Your tireless efforts over the summer have laid the foundation for our work moving forward. We have many new things at play as well as the day-to-day management of COVID-19. You continue to prove that you are the epitome of a first-class team of professionals.
Like past challenges we have faced, this epic event has brought us together and bonded us with our community at new depths. Please know that our entire community is supporting you as you become the new frontline. I can think of no other place I would rather be and no other faculstaff with whom I would rather navigate this challenge. Your and our children's safety have been in our daily thoughts, conversations, and actions. I am thankful we have assembled a team that is safety-oriented and student-centered to face this challenge. A special webpage has been developed to provide information to you and our families. Please be sure to read, at a minimum, our plan: https://www.pc.k12.ms.us/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=1807080&type=d&pREC_ID=1973108
Below you will find our year in review video that we were unable to share at our traditional Sailabration. I hope that it serves as a reminder for how amazing our district is because of you -- enjoy!
With that, I submit the first Captain's Log for the 2020-2021 school year. #onwardtogether #masksUPpirates #committedtoeXcellence #eXcellencemarksthespot cje
