Happy Friday Pirate Nation!
Students have been incredibly resilient this past week as we began a new schedule for 6th and 7th grade students. Our 8th grade team continues to Pilot the Humanities and STEM block.
Through our daily Home Room and WIN (What I Need) time we are reviewing our HERO expectations (see the button below to see our building-wide expectations), discussing respecting ourselves and others, and focusing on teambuilding.
Yesterday, our Home Rooms created a team name, chant, and handshake. Ask your student to show you at home.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
Have a wonderful and safe extended weekend. We look forward to seeing the students back on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
Best wishes,
Mr. Steve Mercer

Future Crew Fall Camp (Baseball)
If you have a 7th, 8th, or 9th grade student that is NOT involved in a fall sport, there will be 2 separate baseball camps taking place this Fall.
The Future Crew Fall Camp Offense: September 12-15, 2022
The Future Crew Fall Camp Defense/Throwing: September 19-22, 2022
Schedule Changes
Thank you for the patience and grace you have allowed as we finalized the master schedule as part of our ReDesign efforts. While changing the schedule this week was unconventional, it has allowed us to not only reduce class size, but also create a more streamlined schedule for students and teachers. To that end, at the current time we are not accepting individual student schedule requests unless it relates directly to student safety in order to allow our students and teachers to build rapport and consistencies with schedules.
Thank you for your understanding as we settle into the 2022.2023 school year!
Pay to Play
If your student is playing a fall sport, there is a $25 fee. This fee can be cash or check brought to the front office - or you can pay on Skyward.
Click the button below for step by step instructions on how to pay on Skyward.

Pick Up/Drop Off Request
We want to ensure the safety of all community members, staff, and students during pick up and drop off.
- If you are dropping off students in the front of the building, please pull all the way to the flag poll to make sure we can alleviate back up of vehicles. Also, please remain in line. If a car pulls in front of everyone else, it could cause a potential wreck.
- We want to ensure the safety of students, staff, and community members. Thank you for staying off your cell phone when driving through the car line.
No School on Monday, September 5, 2022

Our school will soon be administering the Kansas Communities That Care (KCTC) Student Survey.
This survey is taken by 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th grade students statewide. I believe this survey is a valuable tool to help us understand how students behave, think and feel about alcohol, marijuana and other drug use, bullying and school safety. The KCTC survey measures teen substance use, delinquency, and related problem behaviors in schools and communities. The survey gives us insight into the problems students face and shows what we can do to help them succeed. The information is important for planning effective prevention programs in our school and community and provides data to assist in applying for grant funding.
