October Is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month
As we continue to create our community it is essential that we remember our purpose statement which states :
"Bear Creek Elementary Is An Inclusive Community Who Intentionally Advocates For A Culture Of Connection ..."
Making sure we continue to include all of our community it is important to recognize October as Natioanl Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
October was first designated as Down Syndrome Awareness Month in the 1980s and has been recognized every October since. It is a time to celebrate people with Down syndrome and make others aware of their abilities and accomplishments.
Please reference the attached FAQ for information and take some time to read Grace's letter :-)
Inaugural Bear Creek Elementary Electric Dirt Day - Saturday, October 16
We will host our Inaugural Bear Creek Elementary Electric Dirt Day on Saturday, October 16 at 9am. We will be cleaning up lots of tree beds on and around campus. We will need people comfortable with (and who own) small chain saws, loppers, and shovels/picks.
We also need a small team to put together a large basketball goal.
We will have drinks and a light continental breakfast (aka donuts.)
I anticipate this taking about three hours.

Students May Return After
10 days have passed since symptoms started, and improvement in overall symptoms, and 24 hours have passed without fever and use of fever-reducing medication.

Provide doctor’s note to campus health room staff stating that symptoms are not COVID-19-related and student can return to school.

As an FYI the same holds true for staff members.

Staff Appreciation
Staff Appreciation Spotlight
This week, Oct 11-15th, is Food Service Workers Appreciation week, and we’re honoring our wonderful BCE cafeteria staff, Carmen Herrera, Rena Huerta, & Honoria Lorenzo. What a crucial job that helps keep tummies full, brains learning, and bodies moving all day!
Please let your kiddos know so they can tell them, “Thanks for serving us!” when they see them in the cafeteria.
