Dear Cavalier Families,

Thank you so much to Cote, Jasmine, and Jayden's families for joining us for our first Parent-Student night led by Ms. Belle Tan! And their teacher Mr. Deyo attended too! We'll be having more of these events for our families and hope you can join us next time!

Please take the opportunity during Spring Break to rest and also catch up on your work for your classes! This week would be a great time to ask any questions for your teachers on what you can work on during the break. The next Progress Report will be out in April.

This week's announcements:

  • Show your spirit for this week's Spirit Week! See the flyer below.
  • Many of you will be taking Performance Tasks this week. Please remember to get a good night's sleep, have your iPad charged and get your nutrition in so you are in good condition to take your tests!
  • School Site Council Meeting has been cancelled due to the short month. See you at the next meeting in April!
  • There will be no Rise-up Friday or Saturday school this week.
  • Parents, please fill this out if you haven't already. Every year our school has parents participate in the California Parent School Survey. This survey is an opportunity to communicate your perceptions about our school. Your participation is voluntary. It is also very important. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, and improve student achievement. This is an anonymous survey. It is designed so that no one can be identified from the data. You do not have to respond to any questions that you feel could be used to identify you. Simply skip any such questions. All questions apply to this school only. The results are for the use of your district. The California Department of Education and WestEd will preserve data confidentiality and refer any data requests to the district. If you have more than one child at this school, you will only need to complete one survey for this school. Please fill out just one survey about the school using your oldest child as a reference.

  • Parents, online registration for the 23-24 school year will open in the Parent Portal on Infinite Campus on March 15. For continuing students, residency verification is only required if you have moved to a new address. See our school website for more information.

  • We are looking for Academic Tutors for our AVID Excel class. If you are interested in working 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, please go to edjoin.org and apply online under the Sweetwater Union High School District Academic Tutor job posting.

Past announcements:.

  • Here is the Saturday Academy schedule.
  • There is a free online tutoring program provided by college students! College students from UCSD, SDSU and other colleges belong to a UCSD run student organization called the San Diego Tutoring Tree - https://sandiegotutoringtree.weebly.com/, Again, this is a free service where college students tutor in English, math, sciences and more. The tutor applicants are screened by UCSD and receive safety training as well. Tutoring occurs virtually through password-protected zoom sessions 1 - 3 times a week for up to 3 hours at no cost. If you need more intense tutoring check them out.
  • Parents, do you need help with JupiterGrades, Infinite Campus, the iPad? Please sign up for an appointment with Ms. Tina Tom, our online coach! Please fill out this form.

Please feel free to contact myself or one of the Assistant Principals with any questions.

Mr. Guillermo.Flores@sweetwaterschools.org is our 8th grade Assistant Principal
