Get Out and Vote on Tuesday, November 2!
Local elections matter more than ever because our officials will have direct influence on the allocation of COVID Relief Funding, school facility improvement, and the important short and long term funding of schools, community improvement and programs.
Registration:
The voter registration deadline is TODAY October 26th. You can check to see if you are registered here: https://portaldir.ct.gov/sots/LookUp.aspx or register online here: https://voterregistration.ct.gov/OLVR/welcome.do
If you miss the registration deadline, you may register ON election day by going to town hall and voting there. But it's way easier to register in advance.
Voting:
We vote at Redding Community Center from 6a-8p on election day. We are blessed to have a great team of election day volunteers that make the process painless. In an out in less than five minutes is pretty much a guarantee. Note: there is no school for students on election day.
Because of the pandemic, ALL voters are eligible to vote absentee. You may go to town hall Mon-Thurs to request a ballot and even vote right then and there. Or you may mail or drop off an application in the ballot drop box outside town hall 24/7. More details here: https://townofreddingct.org/.../absentee-ballot-information/
We encourage all families to take an active role in our PTA programs, school opportunities and town government and vote in the election.
Fall Night Out!
Thank you to all who came out to make last week's Fall Night Out a tremendous success! And thanks, also, to all our wonderful volunteers!

Register Today: Screenagers: Growing Up in a Digital Age
Registration Required (Click here or anywhere on the picture to register)
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that with her own kids and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. She wondered about the impact of all this time and about the friction occurring in homes and schools around negotiating screen time—friction she knew all too well.
In SCREENAGERS, as with her award-winning documentaries on mental health, Delaney takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.
The screening will be followed by a live Q&A with Dr. Delaney Ruston, physician and filmmaker.
This evening is brought to you in partnership by the Redding Elementary School, John Read Middle School and Joel Barlow High School PTAs, Easton K-8 PTO and the Mark Twain Library.
The program is virtual and registration is required. Registered participants will receive an invitation and link on the day of the program. Include your cell phone number on the registration form and receive one text reminder, approximately 30 minutes before the program begins. Click here to register.
